3G & TETRA MASTS IN LIPHOOK
- Jill Willetts (3rd Nov 2003 - 11:07:51)

Just to refresh everyone on Local Talkback about the issue of masts in the Bramshott and Liphook Community.

We really need to do as much as we possibly can to draw attention to the number of masts that are going up in our village.

The Hutchison 3G mast has planning permission to go up in the PO/BT Exchange grounds and there will be a planning application going to EHDC to erect a TETRA mast in the centre of the village too. Both these masts will emit high levels of radiation.

As a community we need to work together to ensure that they are not put up in the centre of our residential areas. Too many people in the village are unaware that they are going up, and of the health risks and implications.

We are not saying that these masts don't need to go up, but we are saying that there have to be more appropriate sites than in the centre of our village.

We have put together an Action Group, meeting on a weekly basis, and plan to hold a village meeting very soon. If you are interested in joining us in our campaign, please phone me on 723184 for further information.

Jill -

Happy to give as much support as possible. Two Planning Committees ago, I objected to the temporary mast at Beech Hill off Gentles Lane, and gave a lengthy report to the Parish Planning Committee members, so we are well briefed on the issues and know where all the masts are in the Parish.

Thanks Freddie. Our next meeting is Tuesday evening @ 8.30 where we will be discussing plans for a village meeting. Please call me if you would like to come.

We have an appointment to see Rt Hon James Arbuthnot MP today at 6.30pm.

Additionally, we have written to the Chief Executive of Hutchison and requested a meeting. Have not heard back from him yet but will be following up shortly.

Anyone else reading this who would like to join our group of campaigners, please telephone 723184.

I was looking at the new development in Victoria Way this morning and noticed - guess what - a huge telephone mast right in the middle of a housing develoment!

The plan, as I understand it, is to build another one within 200 metres at the Sorting Office. Are we the subject of some experiement that I don't know about?

Is the plan to build as many as possible based upon the principle that now that you've got one there is no harm having another?

Or was Douglas Adams right: The world is really run by mice.? And the answer is 42. Its the only thing that makes sense!!!

In support of Jills comments, we now have secured the support of the MP James Arbuthnot which is great news.
