Bohunt Manor
- marian (18th Sep 2006 - 15:24:09)

I know the new owners have annoyed many people in the village with their clearing of the hedgerow to make the road more visible (and yes they did get their planning permission). I have been trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but has anyone else been disappointed by the way some of the land next to Bohunt Manor has been fenced off? I used to enjoy the walk round the back of Bohunt and Foley manor but when I went for a walk today I found it's now been fenced up with barbed wire and made virtually impassable by a field of curious bullocks. While I appreciate it is their land and they can do what they like with it - I wonder if this is a deliberate attempt to dissuade people from wandering through?

Marian,
I was brought up in rural Aberdeenshire and, know what, the farmers up there did the same thing. I have a sneaky suspicion that they fenced in entire fields not to keep me out but the coos in!
Incidentally, bullocks are generally non agressive. This is due, in large part, to the parts wot they no longer got. However, if by some misadventure, you found yourself in pastures green in the company of a big coo with with a tattie sack full of rugger balls trailing on the ground between it's back legs, think exit fast and run even faster!!

Cheers,
Allan.
