Thanks Councillor Ferris for this informative newsletter.
Elation followed horror as I read the bit about the B3004 being proposed as a potential service route for the A3 but that this was actually a kind of mistake. Presumably it had gone through someone's mind that all eco-town traffic should end up joining the A3 via the Headley Road and Liphook?
I remember the eco-town roadshow was emphatically keen to sell the idea that employment self-sufficiency would prevent the need for outside commuting and the extra traffic burden thereof. Also one of the (3) proposals was to turn part of the existing A325 into a pedestrianised zone. Was this all a pipedream or just a ruse to gain support?

Re: Liphook Roads.
Whilst I agree that "the road surface is greatly improved" since June, it is still no better or even worse than it was before the re-surfacing took place.

Thanks for these comments.
As to the A325 etc., yes there was a plan to pedestrianise that road and reduce out-commuting. There is still a plan to bypass part of the centre so largely that aim is intact. The ships will no longer straddle the A325 but will be located to the NW of the town. It is hoped that the larger town will attract employment and land is designated for that purpose. I'm no longer an expert on this but that is my understanding as of today.
As to the road surface, the engineers tell me me it will now last several years and will be more resistant to wear and tear. Time will tell but I hope for all of us they are right.
Ferris.

Councillor,
Afraid I have to disagree that the road has been repaired and should last a few years!
Travelling out of Liphook on the London Road you will see holes in the surface at the junction of Tower Road and further on between Hewshot Lane and Church Road the same thing. These holes were not there before the tar and chippings were laid, they became evident as the tar pulled off the original road surface in the hot weather. Come the winter and with rain and frosts they will just open up the surface and result in pot holes.
I suggest, Councillor, you have a little closer look if you think the road is now back to it's original condition and get the engineers back and get the road suitably repaired properly.
PS: Great to see you interacting with the people you are representing and giving some information. Information is King and pity a few more elected councillors (Parish, District, County and even MP's) don't do the same. Many thanks and keep it up.

Re: Liphook Roads
I understood that the contractors had agreed to re-surface the road again in the Autumn, to rectify the faults. It was for that reason that road markings and "cats eyes" had not been replaced.
Am I wrong?

I agree with Darren, I don't see how the road surface can possibly last for a couple more years. From the junction of Station Road towards Petersfield the surface is terrible, lots of holes where the tar pulled off, especially near the Links and towards the bridge. I too thought they were coming back to re-surface in September - why aren't they????

As far as i am concerned Mr councillor if all this remedial work gets done are we paying for this ,or is the previous contractor paying for this .It maybe up to standard but the main point is the cost of doing this twice. Some one will be paying

Is it possible to have an answer to "is the road being re-surfaced /repaired in the Autumn?" If not, why not?

This road problem/chaos has been going on since April. See previous threads "Resurfaced roads" & "Be prepared for more dust" Has anyone out there had a satisfactory answer to the problem. I dislike being fobed off with "they are better now" My point is that they are worse than before the works began

Well??? We were told the road would be re-surfaced in September - is it going to happen? Are we just going to be fobbed off with a dreadful job?
