Stingers on pavement
- Anna@Griggs Green (14th Aug 2012 - 16:52:02)

Does anyone know who I need to contact to ask the council to cut back the stinging nettles over the footpath on Longmoor Road? I walk my baby there every day and got a nasty sting today as I wore a skirt as it was warm! The nettles are also brushing against the pram and my baby is not far off grabbing them as we walk past.

I have emailed the council, but am wondering if anyone has a contact who may be able to help.

I would chop them myself but do not have a petrol strimmer.

Many thanks in advance

I always use FixMyStreet. It usually gets the desired results!

Hi Anna!
i had the same problem, a couple of years ago, on the old London road,..pushing a double pushchair from Bramshott, to school and back each day, was horrendous!.....i found out that Hampshire County Council, highways deptartment, were to be informed!...i did call them around the end of June, and the work wasnt done, until end of September!...worth giving them a call though!

Hi Anna, just out interest sometime last year the council erected signs along the verge in Longmoor road where you now see the stingers,it designated the verge as a wild flower verge !.this if I was to be somewhat cynical may have been a cheaper option than regularly cutting the verge.

:-) Yeah, I saw the signs. Would be lovely if it were a wild flower verge but there doesnt seem to be a wild flower in sight due to the nettles. The good news is that my complaint worked and stinging nettles have now been chopped. Little baby's hands (and my legs) are safe once more! Thanks EHDC.
