Are you happy with your Broadband provider?
- Jay W (7th Aug 2012 - 18:00:31)
Would anyone actually recommend their broadband provider?
We've always been with TalkTalk/Tiscali and are mostly happy with the internet connection save that we have issues with gadgets being connected and working fine one day and when you try to reconnect the next, they cannot unless we turn router off and then on again.
Not on a contract and had been thinking of moving to BT who assure me their Home Hub won't have these issues? Monthly cost substantially more (but worth it to save arguments when having to turn off router!).
TalkTalk desperate to sign us up to new 18 month contract with broadband/phone package and will offer new router as well - substantial monthly saving.
Decided to read reviews on each provider - oh dear! I'm hoping it's only dissatisfied customers who bother to write reviews. Both were diabolical.
Hence my question to you, real people of Liphook, presumably receiving broadband speeds and service that I could also achieve.
I'm thinking of simply buying a new router or asking a professional to come take a look. Head spinning with information overload - thank goodness security question is 1 + 1 !

I have used Plus Net for years. Various packages, but currently £16.49 for 60Gb download limit between 08:00hrs to 24:00hrs. No download cap at other times. I have the Pro bolt-on and have included a static IP. (If you don't know what one of these is, you likely don't need one!) On ADSL2 I get 17Mbs sync speed at c. 1000 metres from ther Exchange (BT tested this for me last week), and after Plus Net uncapped the upload speed, about 800kbps upload speed (from roughly 370 at best). No real grumbles about their support, but then I wanted a wires only service, and understood the implications of using them as merely a wires presence. They do act as a normal ISP though..Plus Net are owned by BT. If I was looking for a new ISP, I would be tempted to use Sky as they have a LLU presence on Liphook, can be godd vlaue, especially if you are a Sky TV subscriber. If not, go for who is inexpensive. Go to www.samknows.com to see what choices are available and based upon your needs do a quick forum trawl for issues.

Thanks - will take a look at those now I've recovered from the other information overload.
Had seen all the bad reviews for most of the providers on Broadband Genie - very depressing!
