HELPMATES LIMITED
- Eneida (24th Aug 2006 - 11:02:25)
We've just had a notice through our door from this company,I expect a lot of other people in Liphook have too.
I'm afraid this is another one of those companies who are not a charity but a commercial company.
If you Google their name you can read what Jo Swinson, Liberal MP has to say about them.

I too had a leaflet through my door Friday last and filled a large sack full of clothes etc and left it out for collection Monday 22nd. I put it out again today and it was still on the doorstep when I returned home from work. I've even phoned the number on the leaflet a few times to no avail. Having read the comments now, I shall be putting them into a registered Charity Shop.
Glad I looked up Helpmates on the net!

This company is presently dropping leaflets through the doors of Tadley and surrounding areas such as Silchester. People should be made aware of the status of the company. Why can the authorities not take appropriate action against companies such as this?

Just got a leaflet through my door (I live in the Edinburgh area) from Helpmates asking for 'Unwanted clothes urgently needed'. It gave a web address as www.help-mates.co.uk if you wanted more information but when I tried to get on their site it was non-existent! Googled their name and got this site. Glad I did! I had bags of clothes to go to my local charity shop and was going to leave them for this gang but not now!

I'm delighted that my effort to warn people about this quasi-charity company is having some effect throughout the UK, almost one year after I posted!!
Apparently they're not doing anything against the law, but the truth is that companies like this one (almost all Eastern European based) are depriving our home grown, genuine, charities of about £1m income a year, which I find quite appalling.

Do not put bags out for this company, i have been putting a bag of good clothing out for the past few weeks and nobody has picked it up, they should not be allowed to get away with this, also no luck when i phoned the number on the leaflet or tried their web page which does not even exist, dont waste your time, take it to the charity shop.

I have heard of numerous companies doing this but if they don't collect the clothing what is their aim?
