NEW WINE BAR FOR LIPHOOK
- Andrew Clarke (14th Aug 2006 - 11:11:23)

OK Ladies and Gents, Who would like a wine bar/Jazz club in Liphook? FOR BOTH THE YOUNG AND THE OLD.
With themed nights, jazz, funk, soul, 60's, anything really. Maybe a juice bar during the school holidays. For or against the idea? I would really like to know your thoughts.

Andrew -

Totally supportive!

Speak to Alan Snudden or Kirk West, of General Wine, they would be delighted to talk about supplying drink.

Although most people only know the retail shop in Station Road (I used to work part-time there) GW is a big wholesaler with offices and warehouse on the Beaver Industrial off Midhurst Road.

As to booking acts - speak to Mike Grimes. Mike's got a very eclectic taste in music and often seeks out "breaking" new bands. I'm sure he would like to be involved in some way.

I'd love to see an indy band called Eye Lash in Liphook. I know the bass guitarist, and they played an amazing set recently in a basement club in Clerkenwell. The place was jumping!

Not jazz - but brilliant post-punk neo rock.

rgds

Freddie

Thanks for all your information. I will take you up on it. I just need to establish how many people in the community would be willing to support the idea. I am going to try and find out by other means as well as the great liphook.co.uk website.

It would be open to all sorts of music for everbody, maybe an open mic night would be a good idea as I know there are lots of local bands and musicians.

Thanks again

Andrew

Great idea Andrew, I think it would be well supported and provide another welcome alternative venue for people of all ages in Liphook. Freddie, good to see you are continuing to come up with some good follow up ideas and suggestions to get things moving.

Best wishes
Barry

I think it is a good idea too, do you need any staff or am I too old? PS where would this be located?

Re: NEW WINE BAR FOR LIPHOOK
- Andrew Clarke (15th Aug 2006 - 22:26:12)

Location to be confirmed shortly. Yes we would need staff and they can be any age as long as they dont shake when pouring a pint. How about some ideas for a name???

Oh yes this sounds like a great idea! Definitely need another evening venue in the village..and if live music is to be played then even better!

- Chris (16th Aug 2006 - 06:58:01)

...how about "Wined Up"?

Re: NEW WINE BAR FOR LIPHOOK
- Freddie Dawkins (16th Aug 2006 - 10:13:35)

Well, we have Robin Oliver's "famous" Liphook Rock, so how about Liphook Vin?

Maybe Lurgashall Winery could come up with something for us...Blush Pink probably, given some of the outrage here recently ;-)

Or Vin de Pays d'Peverel - as Peverel was the pseudonym for Liphook in The Peverel Papers.

Or Wino's - definitely appropriate for some Friday nights!

I'm sure this thread will run and run...

Please don't make the name board too big otherwise you will have the "billboard watch" complaining about that too.
Second thoughts, go for it, big neon blue and flashing on & off.

Name: Billboard Blues

Re: NEW WINE BAR FOR LIPHOOK
- Paul Robinson (28th Feb 2011 - 22:51:31)

Pity this thread re-emerged during Finchie's dry month otherwise we might have got a positive input from him.

Give it a couple of days and I am sure we will hear, from on high, or perhaps from under the table, suggestions for a wine bar in Liphook.

Mine's a large Cabernet Sauvignon.

- karen (1st Mar 2011 - 19:13:45)

How about `Jazzy Wine` for a name ?

Re: NEW WINE BAR FOR LIPHOOK
- Finchie (3rd Mar 2011 - 17:03:06)

Or "Beau Vine" ?!

Cheers, Finchie

PS Paul - I actually did it ! Dry for a whole 28 days. Ha ! That even included about 14 days of real temptation - the hardest being watching the rugby at the pub. Proves I'm not dependent for at least another 10 years. Now where did I put that White Russian (the vodka drink silly)
