Local Athletics Clubs
- Vicki (10th Jul 2012 - 19:00:46)

Is anyone aware of an athletics club locally suitable for 12 year olds? Would need to include training rather than just road running.
My son has developed quite a turn of speed in the 100m and is loving 1000m at school!
Thanks.

Have you had any luck with your research? My 12 yr daughter has had some impressive achievements in the 100m this year and my 11yr son in the longer distances, and was thinking of getting them both into an athletics club!

Have you tried Haslemere running club (not sure of their official name) but I understand they have a section for juniors and I believe they do training other than just road running?

You could try Haslemere Border Athletics Club

Thanks for the suggestions!

Unfortunately Haslemere currently have no groups between 11 years and adults. I have been told there is a club in Petersfield but I don't have the details yet.

With the Olympics really feeding his enthusiasm I need to channel his inner 'Usain Bolt'!!!

You could try Petersfield Tri Club who are trying to get a junior section together.

We are very happy with City of Portsmouth Athletics Club. Phill Budd is the main man. Although it sounds like a trek, it's only 30 mins to Mountbatten (a fantastic facility). They train Tuesdays and compete Sundays. Have a couple of great sprint coaches. Perfect for your age.

Cheers, Finchie
