Illegal/unsociable parking in Malthouse Meadows
- Wb (5th Jul 2012 - 07:39:22)

Am I the only one that thinks illegal/unsociable parking in Malthouse meadows is unacceptable?
especially around the roundabout area where cars and also commercial vehicles are parking with at least 2 wheels across the public footpath in some cases all 4 wheels not only on the footpath but on grass verges thus ruining the grass areas, making it impossible to pass without going into the road, not very good for wheelchairs, pushchairs or young children being forced into the road..............
I do hope this situation gets attention as it appears to be on the increase without a thought for pedestrians...............

I'm not familiar with the situation in Malthouse Meadows, but share similar concerns elsewhere in Liphook. For example, in Newtown Road near the train station vehicles are often parked on verges/pathways, meaning you have to walk on the road. This is particularly difficult when using a pushchair.

I appreciate that parking is at a premium in some areas of the village, but some drivers need to be more considerate to others.

I agree I find coming into the road can be a nightmare
Sometimes when they park to close to the junction
It's an accident waiting to happen, it can be especially
Bad at the weekends. Also the speed is an issue, some
Of the cars that go towards meadow way and coming back out of
The estate go far to fast, I'm surprised it's only cats
That have been hit think we could do with some humps.

I lived in Malthouse Meadows thirty years ago, before moving to another part of the village, we had a problem with parking then, someone suggested then, that maybe have the grass in the middle of the roundabouts removed, and parking spaces put there instead, never heard anymore about it.

I live in Malthouse Meadows and the parking up near the entrance to the rec is terrible and we've been in a couple of near misses when coming in. I do notice though that a few of the houses and flats near Calvecroft don't have off road parking. Bit of a blunder on the planners side perhaps? People living in those properties without parking have no choice but to park on the road
