Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
- S (22nd May 2012 - 20:03:03)

Dear Liphook,

I think its a real shame that there doesn't seem to be much diamond jubilee celebrations planned for the jubilee weekend at the start of June (aside from the age concern tea party as far as I can tell).

Please correct me if i've missed something though!

My own opinion is that it would be really nice to have an afternoon full of pimms, tea and cake and good music that could appeal to all demographics within our comunity, it could just be really great fun.

I wonder if you could please fill out this short survey to work out mainy whether anyone would actually go to something if it was planned, and if so, what people would like to see organised (please of course also feel free to reply here!)

Here is the survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/983SGGN

It's getting a little bit soon now and i think it would be a shame to let it pass by unoticed - i know not everyone is a great fan of our monarchy, but it is a huge part of our history and heritage, and I think just a lovely part of British culture to come together and celebrate historical moments like this - 60 years ago the streets were lined with wonderful tea parties, it would be so nice to do it again! :-)

Just wondering how the survey was going?

Earlier in the year Ben Lawrence offered to get some sort of celebrations organised on the millenium green with music and BQs etc but not many people took him up on it which is a great pity really now that it is getting near to the date for celebrations everyone is wanting something to happen.!! Why not get neighbours and families to take a picnic onto the green and have a joint celebrations picnic with people from the Village coming together and joining in.Games could be arranged for the children with everyone taking part and being responsible for their own refreshments and clearing up any litter after. Quite sure it would work.
