Looking for an IT job in or near Liphook in 4 weeks.
- Leigh Kinch (4th Jul 2006 - 17:07:45)
Hello all,
Im posting here for some advice/help.
I am currently a Police Officer in Thames Valley Police, and in 4 weeks my pregnant wife and i are re-locating to Liphook due to having family already living there.
I have decided to leave the Police due to starting a family and return to "normal life" with a 9-5 and weekends off.
If anyone has any suggestions or know where i can speak to someone about getting an IT job in Liphook i owuld love to hear it, as it would mean alot to me and my wife.
If anyone wants to see my CV you can email me, im online pretty much 24.7.
Im not looking for a high powered Software Engineering role, just any job to get my down to Liphook with my wife.
I have 2 years software programming experience in HTML, ASP, Javascript, VBscript and all microsoft applications. I also have experience in PC support and technical advice.
For the past 4 years i have been a Police Officer and therefore have excellent communication and organisational skills.
If you know of anything i would love to hear from you, as ANYTHING is considered due to needing to re-locate ASAP.
Many Thanks for listening, and maybe when i am living in Liphook i can be of help to you sometime.
Leigh

Hello Leigh
Check out the following link to Hampshire School services.
They often advertise for IT technicians etc and there is one on there at the moment for Basingstoke.
Also a search on West Sussex County council and Surrey CC may also show jobs in IT.

Hope this helps and good luck I'm sure they'll snap you up!

I'm a Software Engineer living in Liphook and the nearest I've got a contract in the last 11 years is in Farnborough or Portsmouth, but then again I specialise in Real Time Embedded Software Engineering and not "IT" as such. But these areas have technology parks so will provide more opportunities than Liphook and surrounding areas. I'm sure you have heard of it, but www.jobserve.com is a very good source of such jobs. Good luck.

Do you not fancy being a police officer here? We could do with seeing one on the beat!

Helen,
Cheers for the link, im looking at places now. There are so many sites that need IT people ive only neen looking at specialised IT sites. Ta.
Scutter,
I have lived 25 miles away from my job for the last 4 years, and petrol is one of my biggest outgoings at the moment, and so dont really want to work any further than Guildford (can train it). But i will looko into it (though maybe not Embedded Software, bit out of my skillset). Thansk for the advice, im on most websites and get emailed 4 times a day with a load of jobs. Most of which are sales !!!
Katy,
That is a whole other kettle of fish. I have looked into Hants, but decided not to join them (want my weekends/life back!!!!). Even if i did join, doesnt Alton cover Liphook? and thats miles away, in TVP we have real issues with rural villages who dont get a PC in their area .... and too right, there arent enough PC's when there should be. Thats why they are employing cheap PCs in the form of Community Police Officers - basically a civilian in a reflective jacket, as they dont havfe any more powers than a member of the public.
-- I have registered on sites and i think what my plan is, is to get a data entry job or similar to get myself based in Liphook, then i have free and easy access into Guildford and areas for interviews, as its hard at the mo when im 120 miles away working nights. I then also have the flexibility to leave whenever i want instead of giving the Police 4 weeks notice.
