Meteorological Station ??
- Eneida (3rd Jul 2006 - 11:43:09)
I've just looked up the weather on Weather.co.uk to see if we're going to get any relief from this relentless heat.
They informed me that my nearest met. station is in Liphook, England and that the weather today is 'foggy with drizzle' and has been since Friday 30/6.
Well not on the Headley Road it isn't and hasn't been!!!!!!!!!!
Do you think this met. station actually exists or should they call themselves weather.con?

Eneida, I think it always used to be some amateur chap who used to count the berries in the winter, which way the dandelion seeds blew or how early the swallows legged it for the winter. You get my drift.
Mind you he could be just as accurate as millions of pounds worth of satellites whizzing around as Mr.Fish found out to his peril.
Hurricane what hurricane!

Some years ago Liphook briefly claimed the title of the 'Hottest Place in England' where, if you had a mind to, you could fry an egg on the pavement!
The temperatures were checked and rechecked and it was found that the statistics and measurements of an amateur meteorologist which were being used by the Met Office at Bracknell were suspect and the shortlived fame was lost.
However our short period of fame was later lampooned by several floats in the carnival which featured bikini clad maidens who visibly turned blue in the chill September evening!
