Wasting money - iwik61 (15th May 2012 - 22:03:48) Why is it that after all we hear every day about cut backs ,austerity measures the councils continually are wasting our money on stupid things.I am referring to top coating of 1mm chippings on the roads locally.It all ends up in the gutters and serves no purpose.Also have you noticed the footpaths to nowhere .They have started one from the corner of whitelys in standford to the top of the hill about 100 metres , they seem hell bent on things like this when we have more than enough pot holes to keep the contracters going .

Re: Wasting money - tony m (16th May 2012 - 10:43:51) Couldn't agree more, the dust is a health hazard especially for those with young children or asthma. It's no way to claim to have repaired our roads. On the subject of short footpaths (although not a world priority issue I should imagine) I came across surely the shortest footpath in the world the other day, it was properly signposted and went about 3 metres before reaching a dead end in someone's garden. It's in Pitfold Avenue Haslemere, worth a look if in the area. All I could think was why?
