Be prepared for more dust!!
- Tina (7th May 2012 - 10:12:09)

HI All
Just to warn you, bank holiday road works. Woke up this morning to find that the rolling roadworks are back along the Portsmouth Road. Seems they are resurfacing the recently resurfaced road. What joy more loose chippings flying at our cars and houses as drivers up their speed rather than lower it to 10mph as requested over the next few days. Good job I didn't get my windows cleaned. No doubt this will attract the boy racers back again.
I am slightly amazed at this as they only painted the lines on Friday evening at rush hour.
Why is this being done again surely this isn't best use of our taxpayers money!

I wonder if it is a warranty repair for the shocking job that was done the first time?

And do they not also know there will be a fleet of cars laden in blue and white travelling along this road later today towards Petersfield to cheer on Liphook FC in the Hampshire Premier League Cup Final, Love Lane 3pm KO.

Good Luck Kev

I happened to be walking around London Road today with the kids, very little traffic about so took a moment to look at the 'quality' of the recent resurfacing work.

I have never seen a road still covered in loose chippings so many weeks after it has been done! Who employed these contractors'?! Is anyone being disciplined for this waste of public money? Is there not some sort of Highways and Byways sub-groiup of the beleagured Parish Council?

Hopefully the next resurfacing along Portsmouth Road will be an improvement - aside from the drivers, have any of you tried to cycle on these roads lately? Far more dangerous to cyclists - stones flying from cars, troughs in the gravel, loose surface etc. Potentially a hazard for LIDBA in a couple of weeks time?

Fingers crossed for a better surface this time around, and not nice for the residents who will have a second wave of dust and dirt as a result.

The traffic has pushed the chippings away from where they are needed and we are back to square one. What a bodge up!
Looks suspiciously like a cheap job which will not save money in the long run.

Seems the second attempt on the London Road was no better than the first. Can our local councillor have a word to a) get the job done correctly first time and b) stop wasting money, unless c) it is all being redone under warranty as "not fit for purpose"!
