Very Wet Drought
- Phil (25th Apr 2012 - 07:14:29)

I have to say it, as it is driving me mad!

This must be the WETTEST drought I have ever seen ... ! So much for a scorched earth, dead cattle alongside dry river-beds, crop failures and stand-pipes in the streets.

Instead, we are on the verge of trench foot in my household at the moment - from the children walking to school in seemingly never-ending rain!

It is ironic, you have to admit!

We need a "like" button on this site. I have been thinking exactly the same thing, ever since the hosepipe ban and the word drought was mentioned it hasnt stopped.

I totally agree with the 2 posters here...it's always seems to follow that when a hose pipe ban is announced it rains for ever more.

However I did see some 'expert' on television saying it's not the 'right sort' of rain... ;)

Well,
I'm not complaining. I haven't had to water any of my pot plants. I was originally worrying about frost but that hasn't been a concern. My garden is looking lovely!

I wonder what the reservoirs are looking like (apart from big empty holes). As a youngster we used to live near a reservoir and in the very hot summer in the 70's we were all tempted to go for a swim in it!

Hopefully most sensible people realise that there's a big difference between rain that fills a few puddles up and rain that replenishes great big reservoirs and groundwater reserves.

Still, the irony of the timing is absolutely hilarious. I am sitting here with shoes that are still sodden.
