Haslemere road
- Susie (23rd Apr 2012 - 20:13:50)
This afternoon I noticed a truck placing a sign saying that from 30th April Haslemere road will be closed for 16 weeks.
That will be fun!

Mmmm not sure if the word fun would me my choice to describe what is to happen next week! I have tried to search Hampshire County Councils website for some more information but no luck. I think I'm going to be one of many grumpy Liphook residents affected by this closure.
Please if any one has more details can they please post. Thank you.

What a lovely journey to work at the Hospital for the next 4 months. Can't wait for the disruption to start!!!!!

I do not think in practice the road closures are for 16 weeks I think they cover themselves that way but I agree it will be enormous disruption, especially in Haslemere as I think the whole High street is going to close?

Oh my...perhaps we better all just stay at home! I do like the use of the word "moderate" impact on journey time.

I spotted two men in dayglow outfits who appeared to be inspecting drains etc in the Haslemere Road. When I took the dog out about 11am they were in the Midhurst Road. I asked them (very politely) what they were up to and was told that the roads would be worked on in the summer. I mentioned the closure of the Haslemere Road, which they new nothing about. I took it to mean they had not been told about it, but they might have meant it was not their department.

I have just been informed by Southern Gas Networks, whose telephone number was on the yellow road sign in Haslemere Road, that it was left there by mistake. There will be NO road closure. The sign was meant to be one warning of diversions regarding the closure of Lower Road, Haslemere.

They are definitely going to be closing Shepherds Hill in Haslemere, and Lower St with effect from Monday 30th april.
Should you be lucky enough to go to Haslemere, you will see a massive flashing sign on the green opposite tesco advising you of this.
Lowet St (the turning left after the station in Haslemere) is the start point, progressing around the main road to Shepherds Hill, the road to Midhurst. I am wondering where they will be diverting everybody.

For info, the main road after the station into Haslemere is already shut, as is Shepherds Hill and College Hill.

Can anybpdy please tell me if, with all these road works, it is still possible to get to Haslemere Hospital via Camelsdale Road, Sturt Road, Bell Road, Midhurst Road, Shepherds Hill, Church Lane.
If not, would be greatful to know what route should be taken.
Many thanks.

Boris
Two .... three.... more routes - turn off Midhurst Rd onto Hill Rd (rt turn just before the descent on Shepherds Hill), keep on past College Hill to Museum Hill, left down Museum Hill to the B2131, turn left, go round the Town Hall and along the High St as usual.
Or ...
To the station and past, turn left down Tanners Lane, right into Bridge St, rt into ?, left into West St (basically follow the road) and then left into the High St. Bridge St and West St are a joy since all the parking is suspended.
Or ...
carry on up Tanners Lane and rt into Church Lane
There really isn't any chaos - there are plenty of routes round, there's almost certainly a few more easy ways to the Hospital.
It's only Lower St and Shepherds Hill that's shut
Have a look at http://www.streetmap.co.uk and search for Lower St and pick the Haslemere one - that'll give you a map and you can work a route from that.

Re: Haslemere road
- Darren (9th May 2012 - 19:26:36)
No you can't get to Haslemere Hospital that way Boris.
You'll need to go via Weyhill, past Haslemere Station and then turn left into Tanners Lane. At the top turn left over the Railway line and bear right at the Green and the Hospital will be on the left at the top of the hill.
Actually the better way to go with or without road works.

All the roads now seem to be open normally, no diversions, no temporary lights in Haslemere for the first time since mid April. What a difference!
