Recreation Ground
- Lisa (4th Sep 2003 - 16:26:59)

When are there going to be funds to improve the swings etc at the recreation ground. They really are quite shoddy looking especially when you compare what neighbouring villages/towns have. As Liphook has grown in size so much mainly with young families moving in you would think there is provision for either an additional site or revamp the existing one. I presume the replacement of the slide is iminent?

Lisa -

Good news. The Parish Council has done all the prep work and the budget has been approved. So purchasing is underway and the slide will be replaced shortly, plus quite a few other improvements to the play area.

Also, the final points leading to a contract being awarded, are in place, to start work on drainage of the rec. The football pitches etc are getting bad in wet weather, and no major work has been done for about 40 years.

There will be a completely new drainage system installed, so the whole rec will be in better condition.

I believe the drainage work is likely to start at the end of the autumn. Best person to speak on this is Cllr Simon Coyte, who is Chairman of the Rec Committee. You can contact Simon via Parish Office - 722988.
