Local baby classes
- Anna (20th Apr 2012 - 22:17:07)

I am fairly new to Liphook and have an 8 week old baby. Has anyone any recommendations of local classes we can attend? I am aware of First Babies on Monday afternoons at the Church Centre. I also heard there were things at Millennium Hall but cant find any up to date info on line. Also, does anyone know of any baby swimming groups I can attend - I am keen to get him used to swimming asap and also need to do some exercise myself!! If there are any postnatal pilates or yoga sessions I would also be very interested.

Thanks all!

Hi Anna

Welcome to Liphook!

i can recommend.a couple of classes locally you could try,...

Little Fishes baby and toddler group in Milland Village Hall Weds 10 - 11.30

Kindermusik in Haslemere is a very gentle music class run by Ali who is lovely.

You could also have a look on Www.toddlerandyou.com which has lots of local classes too.

re swimming, both the herons and the taro hold baby swimming classes or you could try www.waterbabies.co.uk who hold classes in a very warm pool in hollywater.

Hope you find something you like! :)

Hi Anna, Re: - Water Babies

(Thanks Rebecca for the recommendation)

We are currently reviewing our intake for the May term and still have a few places on Friday at 16:00 hours if you would like to join us for our summer term.

Please give Chris or Carol a call on 01730 890 003 and we give you an insight into what we do and hopefully secure you a place for our next term. You could always check out our web site at www.waterbabies.co.uk

Look forward to speaking to you very soon.

Kind regards,

Chris

Hi, Little Green Frogs runs two sessions at the Church Centre on Wednesdays for babies and pre-schoolers.

Singing and puppet fun plus refreshments. You don't have to book for multiple sessions, just pay as you go.

Hi, the Tree Top (Liphook Library) and Chase (Bordon) Childrens Centres both have lots of activities that they run, including swimming classes at Mill Chase in Bordon, which I did with my baby last year, they are very good and subsidised, so a lot cheaper than waterbabies! They also do baby sensory and other activities, you should be able to contact them to get a programme of events. Or Laura from Sure Start used to go along to First Babies (which I loved), and should be able to give you details.

There is also Little Lambs at the Church Centre on a Tuesday morning from 10ish I think, there is a baby section there, although it is a lot bigger and more hectic than First Babies! And on Friday morning at the Church Centre from 9.30 there is a mums and babies/toddlers group for coffee/chat. All cost a couple of quid.

We used to love going to the Royal School on a Wednesday morning at 9.30, it's a free session for mums and babies, with tea & coffee, toys and chat, you can just turn up.

Also would suggest looking at the Haslemere NCT group, there are lots of activities like Babytalk and various sponsored coffee mornings at places like Applegarth with free (extremely good!) cake and coffee which you don't have to be an NCT member to join in with. Although if you do, you get sent the newsletter which has a calendar of activities in it.

Hope this is helpful... I found it difficult when I first had my baby to work out what to do with my time, it would be helpful to have an up to date website with all local activities for mums and babies as there's so much going on but it's not all listed in one place! And I know that it's hard to focus when you have a little baby..!
