Interesting thread as I'm yet to use the LBS but was planning to soon. I've been spoken to very nicely when I popped in recently. What problems have you faced and what is it you need doing this time?

I also recommend Owens in Steep, nr Petersfield. Really good for servicing, they only change what is neccessary.

I found that Liphook Cycles gave an excellent service.
On the 26 March I telephoned and asked if they would be willing to check out and make safe two chidrens bikes that I had been given.
They told me that they were extremely busy but if I could wait two days they would have a look at them. I took the bikes in and mentioned that I was hoping to have had the bikes ready for Easter when my Grandchildren were visiting.
In less than 48 hours I had a call to say the bikes were ready and could I collect immediately because they had limited storage space.
This I did and found that the bikes had been serviced greased oiled and new brakes and cables fitted where neccessary,

EXCELLANT SERVICE

Have just picked up my sons repaired wheel from Trevor. A lovely man, very freindly and knowledgable.

They did a lot of work and charged very little for their expertese.

I would never consider going anywhere else and can't imagine what the problem could have been. It is fantastic to have such a brilliant service in our village when we are surrounded by such brilliant riding routes.

Having had excellent service from Liphook cycles and if you read the previous comments, I feel it only fair that if your going to make negative commets you should have the courtesy to explain the issues you face with this company. Generally you find there are underlying reasons that someone feels they are getting bad service from a company with such a good reputation. I also would hope you have discussed your concern with the company before you posted this thread and given them a chance to resolve the problem.

All the families bikes have been bought and serviced at Liphook Cycles. Have always found them professional and informative.

Always happy to give advice on the little tweaks needed.Left my wallet in the store once, they called me and delivered it back to me!

The reason they are busy is because they give great service. If you have had a bad experience tell them!

LBS provide a great service and recently were able to supply my daughter's new bike, from stock, fully serviced and correctly sized. All within 2 hours. My experience of other shops is not that good

My wife and I bought 2 bikes, a baby bike seat, a bike rack for the car and a child bike attachment from Trevor at Liphook cycles just a week ago. I was extremely impressed with his knowledge and service as he spent a considerable amount of time advising us. He even fitted the bike rack to our car and gave us a comfier saddle for no extra charge. I will definitely shop there again in the future.

Wow, that\'s a lot of replies very quickly! Thanks everyone for the responses as they\'re incredibly helpful. I\'m going to give Owens and Cycleworks a try.

I certainly wished i didn\'t have to post the thread in the first place, and of course accept my experiences may not be typical (although i have heard similar, anecdotally from friends). I can only hope they resolve their ongoing administrative (i.e. storage etc.) problems soon so it\'s an isolated case.

Thanks again!

In response.

The person who started this post phoned on tuesday asking if he could bring his bike in for repair which we happy to do but we were short on space, as we often are at this time of year, and he was asked to bring it in on wednesday morning and that it would be ready for him to collect that evening. I am sorry that we were unable to take his bike that evening and that he felt hard done by. We have limited space and do our best, but I guess in this situation it was not good enough.

Thank you you to everyone that has give such lovelly feedback it is a pleasure to be able to help you all.

I have been in this trade for over 30yrs now and am aware that you can\'t please all the people all of the time.

Wanted to add to my previous quote to say I have now used my LBS and very good I found it too. The guys managed to give my bike the once over and fitted new parts on Saturday despite being very busy. My ride on Sunday was all the better for it. I shall go back!

Have used LBS ever since I moved into Liphook, and have used Trevor and Nigel to spec up a custom bike whilst being a bit of an awkward (i.e. perfectionist!) customer.

I've never had a problem with the service, enjoy the bike banter, and get good advice thrown in.

I think we're very fortunate to have a local bike shop that supply the variety of kit that they do.
