Irish Travellers - KEEP ALERT
- Phil K (1st Jun 2006 - 10:52:57)

People, they may be moving up & down the A3 & are presently in the Lay-by just outside Hindhead, but I've just seen one driving slowly around the area in a pickup truck looking rather suspicious. It was the same one I saw two weeks ago who was knocking on people's doors pretending to put leaflets through the letterboxes.
As I say, this time he was in a pick-up truck and had a couple of kids with him.
Lock up and be carefull and keep an eye out for your neighbours property, my good neighbour stopped them from breaking into my rear garden when I'd popped out.
I feel sorry for the man who runs the mobile Cafe in the Lay-by where they are now, his business must have collapsed, just like the Cafe had to shut down at the NT Punchbowl car park.

Thanks for the tip- the travellers obviously like our countryside! Perhaps as the Police now have the power to confiscate vehicles that are unroadworthy they might concentrate on that aspect when they are patrolling the A3, I too felt sorry for the Burger Vendor perhaps he will have to find a temporary new home.

Don't worry Barbara! Unless something's changed since yesterday afternoon, my DH said the Travellers have now moved onto the field behind the lay-by and the Burger Man is back in his spot :)

Hi people, its 21.45 and Ive just gone past the pikies, there are 6 police cars there and 2 of the biggest tow lorries youv'e ever seen, anyone with a video camera might just get some interesting footage tonight sometime. Hi Barbara, yes you make an interesting point as always, maybe they do like our countryside, also they tend to stay in places where they are making cash from laying drives and where there's good nicking to be had. Following on from my earlier entry, my neighbour made me laugh, she said that the kids who were in the pick-up earlier must have been apprentices, I didn't want to laugh but I suppose you have to sometimes. Goodnight friends !
