I believe that you would be ok to get Freeview, but I believe that installation could be required by an engineer. I would reccommend JS Ariels from Lindford, who is in the thompson local directory if you need his number I will look it up. I am not an expert in this though so please ask him!

Hi Raman,
Yes you can receive Freeview in Liphook. There's no need to call an engineer...all the boxes come with instructions and are very easy to install.
Ours is a 'Pioneer' and came from Comet.

Freeview signal is not very strong in Liphook, you will certainly need what's called a 'wide band' high gain aerial.
So if you currently have an aerial which was installed for 'analogue' television it will need to be replaced, hence the earlier advice from Barbara. You might also need a 'mast head' amplifier.

Because the signal is bad in Liphook, why not try Freeview from Sky. For only £150 including installation you get access to 120 channels including BBC and ITV. Thereafter NO monthly payments See - http://www.freesatfromsky.com/

Thanks for all your replies. I think Mark's suggestion is probably the best and I will go fot it.

The only disadvantage with Sky is that it is more expensive to have installed in more than one room. Once you've got a decent aerial you can add Freeview in every room by buying the much cheaper Freeview set top boxes. But, Freeview will never be absolutely perfect in Liphook until all the analogue channels are shut down in March 2012.

I think this thread demonstrates that Freeview coverage is very variable in Liphook. I live in Haslemere Road and get a pretty strong signal from Midhurst with a fairly ancient chimney mounted antenna, feeding a £29 Sagem special from Woolies. I was so impressed by the picture quality that I bought another one!
If you can, borrow one to try first, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I agree with you Frank!
We live on the Headley Road and can get a perfect picture from our Freeview boxes and our TV aerial is also several years old (but we do have a booster).
Perhaps people who have a problem aren't pointing the thingy at Midhurst!!

I live on the edge of the Avenue and have 100% Signal Strength and Quality. My aerial is around 10 years old, but is very high (3 stories, plus roof, plus chimney)
When i first got my box, the signal was around 65%, but I was told to point my aerial at Hannington, not Midhurst, so i did.
Hannington has a stronger signal aparently, so travels further???
If you have a weak signal, try pointing at Hannington. It worked for me.
