Real Ale pubs
- Nic (18th Mar 2012 - 08:21:22)
Hi, we have recently bought a house in Liphook and can't wait to move. We were planning to take a drive this week to become more familiar with Liphook and surrounding areas. My husband loves his real ale pubs and wondered if anyone has any recommendations?
Many Thanks

Hi,
Wetherspoons at Petersfield or Haselmere have a real ale festival at the moment to the 1st April.
The Links pub in Liphook keeps a good cellar, and worth trying their beers. Also the Rising Sun at Milland have fine ales.
Good luck.

After many years in Liphook I can recommend the following.
For great beer in Liphook then the best kept pint is at the Deers Hut, if you fancy a drive (not drinking I hope) then the following.
Rising Sun, Milland, Possible the best pub a round, food is fantastic and Landlord is a star.
Red Lion Fernhurst, again great beer and food.
Pub with no name (White Horse), Froxfiled (outside Petersfield www.pubwithnoname.co.uk/
Mill Taven, Shottermill (near haselmere)
A little drive, White Horse Inn, Sutton close to Petworth
Halfway Bridge, On the Petworth Road from Midhurst, very close by Lodsworth Arms
Keepers Arms, Trotton,
Thats a few to get you going, plenty more if you like those but everyones idea of a good pub is different.
But I can say compared to Australia, all pubs are good, its the thing I miss most.

CAMRA & BITE
are both worth looking at online.
to find \\\'treal \\\' freehouses, some already mentioned are brewery \\\'tied\\\' & are just the usual London beers !
to find something a little \\\'exotic\\\' it will be trial & error....
all is v.subjective...great beer worth looking out for is brewed locally by Alton & Langham - such as triple FFF & Moondance, & they have their own \\\'brewery tap bar too..
Selborne Arms if you like sitting in the cold - go for that, somewhere more welcoming, perhaps Hawkley Inn, or Eight Bells.
Emjoy.........

Thanks so much for your replies and recommendations! We popped into The Deer Hut today and my husband enjoyed a couple of cheeky pints. I'm sure he'll enjoy making his way through that long list! Thanks again.

There are some good recomendations here, the only ones I will add are:
The Temple, Liss Forest: Best pint of HSB I've ever had.
The Crossways, Churt: Always have 6 or 7 excellently kept real ales on
The Spread Eagle, Liss: Well kept ales and nice food too.
The Good Intent, Petersfield: Best kept ale in the town. Always good a good choice on.
The French Horn, Alton: The only 'Cask Marque' awarded pub I know in the area. I will be honest, I've never drank there but only ever hear good things about the place.
