Liphook Litter Pick: Sunday 25th March
- Philip Jordan (13th Mar 2012 - 17:35:13)

Last year we organised a most successful litter pick and considerably improved the appearance of Liphook. Once again we are hoping for a good response to this "invitation" (plea) to come a join us and clear away the accumulated winter litter.
We will be meeting on SUNDAY 25th March at 9.30am in Midhurst Road car park. Litter pick sticks and sacks will be provided (thanks to EHDC) but I strongly recommend that you wear a pair of gloves.
Clearly the more volunteers the more areas can be covered. So please if you can spare some time come and join in, even if only for an hour. Last year we finished late morning.

Hope to see you there!

Philip Jordan (Liphook in Bloom -Chairman)

Keeping the Litter Pick visible! .............see below

As you may have spotted we have advertised the Litter Pick in shops and on notice boards around the village. We are hoping for a good turnout.

If you require more information please phone me on 724903.

Please to help the village look smart and litter free it would be lovely if each household just spent a few minutes clearing up outside their own properties also this would give support to the Liphook in Bloom Team as they are all volunteers and do a brilliant job in keeping the village blooming

Hi

My thoughts exactly, plan to sweep and clear in front of the house this afternoon, as I cannot make tomorrow.

Well done to Liphook in Bloom for all their hard work.

Maybe something could be done about the Friday mystery paper lorry that has continued to spew out the surplus waste paper from Liphook to Bordon or vice a versa for over a year now.
Try coming along the Headley Rd over the A3 and see how far the trail goes, and this is every week. This time it goes all the way until Whitehill, the council are aware of this because every Monday they have to send out a clean up team.
Why can the road be not monitored as this happens every week, sue them, fine them or make them pick it up it makes no difference to me and it must be more cost efficient than sending out a regular clean up team, who after talking to the operatives the other week stated that ‘ they dread every Monday because we know where we are going it’s just a question of how much we have to pick up.’
I can imagine the rumblings if this happened through the Square etc. Somebody must know something or have seen something regarding the amount of shredded paper in the hedges and verges.

Thank you all you good hardworking volunteers who were busy around the village today taking part in the litter pick.It is amazing how much litter is just thrown carelessly about the area but you have all done a brilliant job yet again and the village looks really smart. Thank you.

A good turnout. At 9.30 this morning some 40 people were ready to take on litter clearing in their alloted road/area. By 12.00 noon the task was completed and over 50 bags of litter and a pile of "other" material was set aside and ready for collection by EHDC Environmen Contrat Dept (how also provided the sacks and "litter pick sticks" ) tomorrow morning.
It was rewarding to have the Scouts and Guides helping out together with some members from LiDBA and the Communirty Magazine Team. Also last but not least LIB members and the general public.
This one off clearance helps but needless to say the best solution is for it not to be put there in the first place and for community minded people to clear away what they can on a regualr basis.
Finally a special thanks to Russ Ellis for his "litter bag drop off collection service"; great for keeping the clearers busy but not so great for the cleanness and smell of his car!

Well done for a fantastic effort! with regards to the previous comments on the litter, it is probably being dropped during the night. Have the police been informed? it is an offence to flytip, maybe they could keep watch in the area during the night. I would not expect the council to have the resources to send operatives out, if it is an unmarked truck or lorry doing this then they have no power to actually stop the lorry anyway only report the number plate?

h,
The police have been notified about this issue and the Council are fully aware of the problem but it still continues to happen weekly, usually on a Friday sometime during the evening.
Some have tried waiting to get the plate etc but to no avail.
