car vandalism
- car vandalism (7th Mar 2012 - 17:22:08)
I left my car over night in the midhurst road car park and on getting to work this morning i received a call to say my car had been covered with eggs as had a few other cars in the car park. The eggs had been thrown at my car leaving lots of big scratches all over the paint work!!!!
the police have been contacted and they are making enquires and checking cctv at sainsburys.
This is very annoying and if anyone has any information please contact me through the editor.

Sorry to hear that your car had been damaged by broken eggs but it seems whoever did it threw eggs over the windows of the Offices the Day Centre the Laundry and Sainsbury's windows. As you say lets hope the CTV camera will give information as to the calpruts.

Liphook has an ongoing problem with car vandalism that the local police have not been able to resolve thus far. It has been going on for over five years. I do not know, but I suspect the lack of resolution for this issue lies up the command chain as it is not deemed "important" enough. The local guys are great, but the political will to catch these troublemakers from above appears to be lacking. I have been quoted RIPA (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 ) stopping cameras going into publiv places, but since we have widespread CCTV in this country anyway, I cannot see why this is a stumbling block. If a Magistrate has to "sign - off" on such decisons, why are Hampshire Police not enlisting the help of the residents to make the case for it. Perhaps the local Inspector would care to comment at this juncture about an action plan to start rolling back anti-social behaviour in Liphook?

After talking to the police they said they would make enquires to Sainsbury but as there was no cctv in the car park it would be difficult for them to allocate time for an investigation!
Again on talking to people in the village this seems to have been a problem in the past.

Every teenager in liphook are not a yob, we don't class every old person a grumpy old fart do we? As the teenager said earlier they have no where to go. Mr h would you be happy if we locked up all the teenagers of liphook until they are 21?
