Devils Lane One Way
- Local (26th Nov 2025 - 11:54:35)

Should Devils Lane be made one way for cars? At present it's not really useable as it has no practical passing place beyond the stables, in my opinion it could be made one way beyond the stables, but remain 2 way up till that point for ease of householder access. It would then at least become a more useable route for cars and give walkers, cyclists more certainty as they'd know cars would only be coming one way.

Does anybody think that's a good idea or would it just make things worse?

Regardless of what the public thinks you would have to talk to our county councillor and she would put the proposal forward to Highways Dept in Winchester after you had garnered enough written support to show them. They are very slow moving. Have you thought how people might access their properties?

Probably not, I suggested it over twenty years ago and was told it would be far more dangerous. At present cars are more likely to travel slower if there is a possibility of car coming the other way. Without that people would go at a more reckless rate making it more dangerous to pedestrians.

It is not too often you meet someone on the lane except when used if Liphook has diversions. You take your choice.

If you want to use the lane brush up on your reversing.
