CARNIVAL ROAD CLOSURES, ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
- D (23rd Oct 2025 - 11:21:45)

The carnival road closures in place for Saturday mean leaving and entering Liphook is forbidden between 18:00hrs to 21:00hrs. For those wishing to leave Liphook that evening, for example shift workers, carers looking after sick relatives on the other side of town, or even people whose Saturday evening social life extends beyond the bounds of Liphook here are some alternative routes.

Those on the south side of Liphook can access the A3 by driving to Hindhead via Haslemere and you can pick up the A3 there. Or you can chance your luck by taking the back road to Milland and access the old A3 opposite the old Black Fox. Not very nice on those narrow twisty roads in the dark with 4x4's bombing down the hill into Milland, but there you go. Those on the north side of Liphook can access the A3 by driving to Bordon to the A325 and pick up the A3 from there.

I was advised by a former member of the carnival committee this morning that I may park my vehicle in the Links carpark any when before 18:00, walk two miles back home, then walk two miles back to the Links later to collect my vehicle to enable me to leave Liphook at my usual time of 20:00hrs. Awfully nice of the Links to allow me to do this but it would mean I get no sleep before my shift.

Hope this helps, if anyone knows of any other routes around Liphook without using one of the six roads that go through the square, please share it with us.

I've got an idea 'D', how about we stop a 120 year tradition for butt-hurt you? Too extreme, ok.... Hmmmm I know! how about you ask the road marshals to just let YOU through where 4000 people including women and children who obviously havn't got a right to enjoy life aren't expecting ANY cars on the roads? Too much? ok... Lets see -

Why sign this message as 'D'??? Is it because you know the reception you'd get?

Ok, lets drill down to it -

You mention “4x4s bombing down the hill into Milland,” which shows you know that bit of road pretty well, sounds like you’ve driven it a fair few times yourself

The way you describe it comes across like you’ve seen it first-hand, not something you’ve just heard from someone else

You clearly know the Haslemere, Milland, and Liphook routes in detail, including all those little back roads only locals use

You say it’d mean walking “two miles back home,” so that puts you roughly two miles from the Links, which points straight towards Haslemere Road

You mention leaving Liphook at 20:00 for your shift, which tells me you rely on your own wheels, not buses or lifts

Put it all together and yeah, you’re clearly based along Haslemere Road and you’ve got yourself a 4x4

We all know... theres only one grumpy, butt-hurt bloke on Haslemere road with a 4X4 who drives like a knob and "bombs it down the road" 'D'!! MAN THE F### UP! and adjust FOR ONE NIGHT!

Why are you talking to previous carnival committee members lol

Bit extreme Matt, the man was only giving locals an alternative route -

Whilst being passive agressive to how unfair life is for 1 night a year.

I am 76 I have lived in Liphook for 55 of them and I have never missed a carnival except through that aweful covid nonsense. It seems theres always a few that can't adjust for one day, thankfully it is just a few. Why this ilk think they're the centre of the universe amazes me.

Hi,

The Berg Estate Liphook, off Midhurst road,
park road side,.
Do not leave cars in-front of driveways.

This is always a good temporary parking to the Carnival.
