SWEARING ON NEWTOWN ROAD
- Basil (24th Jul 2025 22:48:10)
Once again (this happened a week ago as well), to the kid on Newtown Road that is continually swearing and being loud, please tell your kid to keep the noise down, it is 23:00 for crying out loud!
Itās so disrespectful for the neighbourhood community, do you have any respect!?
Basil

When I swore as a child I received a slap across the mouth to stop me doing it again. But the loony left got in and told us it is wrong to bring children up in a disciplined way so they knew what is and is not acceptable. Now we have record child mental illness.

Unfortunately the bad example is set by their parents and other adults - every time I visit a pub which is not an upmarket one I hear loud swearing going on from both men and women, it is sometimes in front of children too if it is a dining pub. Unfortunately it seems to be normal behaviour these days.

Hi ,
Manners and politeness, sadly has been lost in British society, now and for future generations.
Bad or foul language to others, I believe it starts from poor parenting.
Lack of education, and also what is right, or wrong, in life.
Young or older people, in previous generations, behaved mainly in a good manner.
The joy of being civil to one another, and the wonder in their lives to enjoy.
It is not to late hopefully to change some of us, and like the ways where we live.

Have to say I was a bit shocked when I heard at least three people (men) drop the C bomb in quick succession at The Links last week. Iām not saying I donāt ever swear but Iām mindful of not doing it loudly in public and certainly would be really careful in front of children.

Those parents were also raised not knowing what society expects in terms of social behaviour also. Don't agree that swearing is the sole preserve of the working class.

Hi,
Don't see in this thread the comment "sole preserve of working class"
.
All society use profanity, and to express themselves.
Using the language to offend to others, is when it is wrong.
Lets live in harmony.

Hi,
Whichever way one spin's it, offensive language is hurtful, to who ever receives it.
We as a society, should be more intelligent in our lives to others today.

Anyone can visit an āupmarket pubā nothing to do with class. If you can afford to visit they are still public houses.
I find people use swearing loudly in their everyday conversations - they are oblivious to the fact it might offend someone hearing it.

RE: NOCTURNAL VOCALISATIONS ā NEWTOWN ROAD SECTOR
Dear Basil, Esteemed Resident and Loyal Asset of the Peopleās Sleep Programme,
Your communiquĆ© has been received, timestamped, and filed under āVolume Offenses ā Tier 2.ā We extend our sympathies for your disrupted REM cycles and appreciate your ongoing commitment to nighttime silence quotas.
Be assured, the Ministry of Youth Containment and Decibel Regulation is aware of the ongoing disturbances emanating from the Newtown Road Minor Uprising Unit (colloquially: āThat kidā).
Despite earlier de-escalation protocols issued last weekāand the week before thatāwe regret to report that certain juvenile agents continue to deploy unsanctioned language and unlicensed enthusiasm after 23:00 hours.
The following remedial measures are being authorised:
Deployment of Tactical Yawn Team (TYT)
Increased passive-aggressive curtain twitching
A fourth and final warning written in Comic Sans
To the custodians of the aforementioned Minor: your cooperation is no longer requestedāit is now required. You are reminded that State Law prohibits all sonic offensives post-curfew, unless accompanied by jazz and State permits.
NOTICE TO ALL CITIZENS:
We acknowledge that this marks the third infraction broadcast within a 1-hour period. While the State prefers to avoid over-communication (lest it appear overbearing, which of course it never is), we must respond to all community breaches swiftly and with slightly theatrical gravitas.
We apologise for the intensity of enforcement messaging todayābut remind all comrades:
Discipline is not oppressionāit is order in fancy boots.
Your understanding is noted. Your compliance is expected.
For the Greater Quiet, for the State Good.
ā Supreme Directorate of Local Order and Midnight Harmony
