Watch out for violent cat on Malthouse Meadows
- Benjamin Crouch (8th Jul 2025 - 22:52:05)

This evening I went to Radford Park along Malthouse Meadows, my dog was attacked without provocation by a white cat with black pattern on its face.

The two had noticed each other through a gate, at which point this cat followed us along the pavement. I thought nothing of this, but the cat then attacked my dog from behind. Obviously I chased it away but it attacked twice more and only did it back up for long enough for me to pick up my dog when I resorted to kicking it. In this exchange the cat drew blood from my hand.

A neighbour saw this unfold and said the cat had done the same to their dog. It is not acceptable for a violent animal to be allowed free rein like that. Not least of all because what it did this to a child out walking their dog? I do not believe the cat would have stopped had I not forced it away.

Posting this as a warning to others who walk this way and in hope that the owner will see this and keep that cat indoors where it belongs. I will keep walking this route. I hope not to have to deal with this cat again- but at least if I do I will be prepared.

I wonder if the cat had somehow heard about all that milk going free up in Lindford? (See previous Talkback post - the milk is in someone's shed, I think)

This might have made it frustrated - even angry. Cats do love a saucer of milk. Cats can’t drive, so there would be no way it could get up there to collect it. I read somewhere milk was bad for cats, though? They are lactose intolerant.

Poor little thing.
