Free milk
- Emily Wainfelt (7th Jul 2025 21:44:26)
Hi there,
I meant to order 6 pints of full fat milk from Tesco but accidentally ordered 600 x 6 pints, and the store are refusing to take back the 599 bottles I don’t want!
Would anyone be interested in a bulk order of milk? It’s in date until 15th July and is currently being stored in my shed in Linford.
[editor]The email address given bounces back. I can find nobody with the surname Wainfelt in Lindford or anywhere to be honest. I suspect this was just a fake posting.[/editor]

Have you tried food banks and advertising on the olio app? I can't believe they would refuse to take these back at least in part or just query this in the first place! Not the time of year to be having to store this either. Maybe someone has some spare fridge space at least to keep things for longer...

I can't believe that Tesco didn't contact this lady to check if this order was correct, before processing it.

Think of the logistics here, how many pallets is 599 six pint containers of milk? All in their relatively small delivery vans? Incredible. Next time I'm in Sainsbury's (other local supermarkets are available, oh they're not are they) I will work out how many of their trollies this would be.

Curdled by now in a shed and not in a fridge...

Surely the cost alone on final total of shopping would make you look at the bill? Thats at least 1200 for the milk alone. Surely you would notice ?

Quick search, I found “Wain's felt" likely refers to the felt material used in the distinctive and colourful artwork of Louis Wain, an English artist known for his anthropomorphic cat illustrations. Cats drink milk. The painter’s wife was called Emily. So we have Emily Wain-felt. Could this be the background to the name and post? Or have I curdled the plot!

Sherlock - With logic like that you would have been excellent on 3-2-1. And you need to be over 50 Yrs to understand this post.

Given the mathematics involved it's reassuring to know nobody was fooled by this. You've got six hundred bottles of milk in your shed in this weather? As they say, if something sounds too good to be true...

This is a wind-up surely!
I think I’d notice at checkout that I was about to pay a £1,000 for six pints of milk.

Also not many people keep over 1200 in their current account? I do not know what the intention of this poster is maybe to see who is going to respond? It is a very strange posting.

What's a current account got to do with it?
Most people shop with a c.c nowadays,it makes much more sense to do so.
What doesn't make sense is paying for it!...

We all make mistakes. I once went to fill the car up with petrol and accidentally bought 3 North Sea oil platforms. Well well well, I thought.

Please update the title of this thread - it must now be:
600 Blocks of Fermented Cheese Free To a Good Home
:)
If it ever existed, or someone was just trolling Liphook Talkback ...
