Iron hill sangs - Concerned (1st Jul 2025  12:22:53) See there is a meeting at midhurst on the 10 July 10 o’clock. About converting the open area into a sangs . The National Parks people seem to want to make it into a sangs it seems odd when it’s open to the public with a car park. Would it be that the developers of the chicken farm and Highfield school want a sangs for their developments . If they get to develop in that area bang goes liphook centre it will be grid lock most of the time. Me think’s back door dealings . [editor]SANG – What is it? Developers are supposed to supply their own sangs but they can get round that by donating a small amount to a sangs that’s nearby that’s why it looks very suspicious. Re: Iron hill sangs - er (1st Jul 2025  13:22:45) Yes, existing green spaces open to the public can be declared new green spaces open to the public, which together with the introduction of grey spaces which allow green spaces to become brown spaces, you will see that our planning system is working very well, for developers.

I do believe the chicken farm consortium did try having Radford Park as a SANG as well as an area of ancient woodland on the old A3 near the Black Fox. It seems you can nominate any area of scrub as a SANG now and your planning application gets approved (I fear for my back garden). This is why I have no time for British farmers now, more concerned about making a fast buck than upholding their responsibilities to the subsidy paying public. What was it I was told in the parish council office at a planning meeting discussing the 600 houses application in 2019? "Anything is for sale at the right price". (Ooh-aar!)

Re: Iron hill sangs - Jo (1st Jul 2025  15:40:25) D - I object strongly to your damning generalisation of British farmers. Hard-working British farmers work tirelessly to produce food for us against impossible odds with the ever-growing urban population, who are largely ignorant of countryside matters. Do not confuse those that farm with city folk who buy up tracts of our countryside to fiddle their taxes and then do all they can to develop said land.

Re: Iron hill sangs - D (1st Jul 2025  17:31:27) Jo, I am referring to one Liphook farmer (possibly two) who have for decades accepted EU subsidies, only to throw it back in our faces to sell their land to the highest bidder. I lived on farms as a child so please don't lecture me.

Re: Iron hill sangs - A different M (1st Jul 2025  17:45:58) Sorry Jo you are wrong with regards to the Chicken Farm on Chiltley Lane. The Chicken Farm is, and has been for decades, a working farm producing millions of chicks but the owner (farming family) can make a fast and big buck by developing it for housing. I don't think he's alone with regards to farmers?

Re: Iron hill sangs - D (1st Jul 2025  20:08:39) I personally think any farmer who sells up for housing should pay back any subsidies they may have received over the past twenty five years. Just as an employer would feel they should be compensated for training a new employee only for that employee to then take their new qualifications elsewhere. But we digress.

Re: Iron hill sangs - M (2nd Jul 2025  14:52:19) Yes agree D, just as the employer should be including a clause in the employee contract which deters that, and include a sliding scale of what monies should be repaid if they choose to leave early with their new qualifications. Much the same as ERCs attached to mortgages. Suppose the government didn't include that when they set up the incentive for the farmers.
