Can we have a Convenience Store and a Cashpoint on Station Road?
- paulSquare (29th Jun 2025 18:31:48)
Hi,
We seem to have more retail facilities in the Square, and Headley road of Liphook.
Station road it is poor, for any Convenience store, or Cashpoint facility. Many people live "the other side" of our village, but have little useful shops.
Could this change?

Sure,
You may have as many Asian nail parlours, Arab barbers and Afro vape shops as you like! Or more than you like.

If it were a viable business proposition I'm sure it would have been done by now.

What's wrong with Sainsbury's it's only really round the corner?
But a small M &S food outside the station would be great!

I agree for once with D any shop could go amywhere it depends whether someone thinks they will make money there and whether they can afford the lease. With so many forklift truck removals of outdoor cashpoints it is unlikely that a business would include that facility maybe one indoors during trading hours.

I agree with Suse, Sainsbury's is only a short distance away and parking isn't a problem. A convenience store on station road would only impede the flow of traffic. M & S in Liphook? Haslemere or Petersfield maybe but a bit posh for Liphook, wot wot.

I know it is not Liphook but M and S are planning to build their largest food hall yet in England in Godalming on the site of the former Homebase. It will not open until next spring.

@ Joe well that's great news at least they are developing.
They could easily then put just a small one in Liphook because it'll be in their delivery area.
All those new houses being built with posh cars will need to shop somewhere, not just Sainsbury's, unless of course too posh to shop.

Well there's a little Waitrose on the A3 so stranger things can happen
We're well placed for a small M&S on their delivery route so perhaps not too long.....

Suse M &S and Waitrose both tend to have the smaller shops now within petrol garages where there is good access to park their huge articulated lorries. Hence the M and S in the petrol garage at Hindhead. There would not be room for their delivery vehicles untess the store was where little fish operate from.

At the current rate of change that's already happening in Liphook, we'll have a Lycamobile before we get a M&S.
