non-stun slaughtered meat - Anthony (15th May 2025  13:15:27) Our local supermarket now sells non-stun slaughtered meat, where animals are killed without the humane "stun" required by UK law - under an exemption for religious reasons. The RSPCA - citing this method as inhumane and unnecessarily cruel - is campaigning to ban this practice. Humanists UK also highlight a Food Standards Agency report showing that 53% of non-stun slaughterhouses failed hygiene standards, with "major animal welfare concerns".
