Pubs
- Diane (20th Feb 2006 - 22:13:18)

Hi, I am looking to move to the area in the near future and was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on pubs in the area and if the is any drink related problems in them. Cheers

I have frequently been known to miss my mouth after a few beers at the Green Dragon - does that count ?

I am not too qualified to answer, since I don't live at the square, but times I have left at closing time it has been remarkably quiet (I would say disappointingly quiet - but don't want to incite Message Board Rage).

If you are worried that it is a bit like the telly programs about the Friday/Saturday night police shenanigans with drunken yobs - it doesn't happen here.

Cheers, Finchie

Finchie,

If you are the Finchie I know, I would hasard a guess that you often miss your mouth almost as many timnes as you miss the train (or should i say use to miss the tain) in the mornings. Please let me know how your fitness training is going on - I always keep an eye out for you when driving around the village, whcih is not that often, and you appear to have left it to our wife and younger son to support your eldest when he plays football! I hope to see you at the first 11-a-side game!

Best Regards,

Gember

Hi Gember,

A very "off-topic" post ...

You know much more about me than I know about you ! Strangely I miss the trains (esp. the Friday Beer Train).

Training going very well - and have now added black stockings to my attire. My excuse is that it's cold, but really they feel great so will see how long into the summer I can get away with wearing them.

Currently I coach mini rugby on Sunday mornings so my lovely wife likes to go to the football - with me looking after our very young son ! I am sure I will be down to football very regularly in 2 years (when they play on Sunday and I stop coaching). That's one thing that gets on my goat - Why are kids forced to chose between Rugby & Football at such an early age - they are both great games. Our minister of sport should just say youth Football on Saturday, Mini Rugby on Sunday (or vice-versa).

And while I'm on the subject of what gets on my goat ... Have you tried to get anyone under 11 involved in Athletics Clubs - in this case my daughter ? With an Olympics around the corner you would think there would be loads of initiatives - best I have found is "Athletics" at Bohunt on a Monday night. Still - I am sure our Sports Minister is too involved in working out which Australian building firms to award development contracts to, since they have done such a great job on Wembley. Anyone fancy starting a petition .... :-)

Cheers, Finchie
