Anyone tried the Robin Hood pub since it has been refurbished? Beer? Food?

We ventured down there a couple of Saturdays ago to see what it was like. I have to say it was very good. Best bit (for us) is that it is VERY child friendly, with a well sectioned off big family area and a kids playroom. It seems if you want to avoid the families and have a quiet evening - you just need to go to the other half of the pub.
There were some threads on "talkback" many moons ago - highlighting the lack of child friendly pubs in/near Liphook. We have an option now - and I hope the Robin Hood becomes very successful and busy as a result, and is well rewarded for not following a "traditional" formula.
I had that awkward moment of ordering a couple of pints of Abbots Ale that were very bad. As a "stranger" and a first round I wondered how my complaint would be received. But they were immediately swapped, no questions asked. Then struck up a conversation with a very friendly local about the merits of a certain brewer and how they got the old Passfield pub shut down - all rumour and hearsay no doubt, but a good natter ...
One of the guys serving food even went that extra mile and personally delivered the final England - Italy rugby score to our table - can't ask for more than that.
The kids ate - and loved it with good sized portions. And a very wide choice for the kids. First time I have come across chicken teddies before.
And early evening, Apple Cars got 2 cars to us in the space of 5 minutes.
All in all a great experience and recommend you give it go.
Cheers, Finchie
PS Take lots of 20p pieces for those silly little sweet machines that give you 4 minstrels (if you are lucky). They have a large selection of those machines. Also one that takes £1 coins for a present - my 10 year old son "won" a pretty necklace & bracelet - Ha, that'll teach him !

The Robin Hood has always been quite child friendly but sounds even more so now. I may venture back there one day when I've forgiven them for getting rid of the lovely etched glass windows. What a pity. 'Don't fancy the 'chicken teddies' either -sounds too much like 'turkey twizzlers' !
