New Home for a Dog
- Linda Greaves (30th Jan 2012 - 22:37:28)
If you know of a dog that needs a new home, we are looking for a medium size dog that would like to live of with another dog (bitch), a couple of cats, a giant house rabbit, and keep up with us on the horses out on the commons for a couple of hours a day.

there are always dogs at Fir Hill pets hotel whitehill/ Bordon, waiting for a new home, in return they ask for a donation for their charity.

Rescue Remedies is the charity to google - they rehome from Firhill I believe. There was a thread earlier in the month about taking the rescue dogs for a walk (free exercise instead of joining a gym!) and the possibility of fostering if you can't give a dog a full time home.
Will try and locate it.
Also, if you want a good blub, go the Many Tears Rescue page - they rehome ex breeding dogs but you must have another dog in your house to teach them how to behave in a home - so sad, but may suit you?

Here is extract from Claire's post on 31st December - get fit for free
"Looking to shed the tin or two of quality street you ate this Christmas ?? Forget the gym and pilates ...... walk a dog that is waiting in rescue kennels for its forever home!
Rescue Remedies welcomes responsible adults as volunteers to walk dogs which are kennelled locally. You can volunteer as much or as little time as you like. Our dogs crave human company and their walks are very precious to them.
If you would like to discuss volunteering please contact Karen

we have beautiful dogs looking for homes and also looking for foster families whilst awaiting their homes. Please take a look at our website.

Couldn't work the photo bucket pics (doh!) but found Kailey on the web page - so cute - can't believe a pup like that has been in kennels since November?
Chico (with Mia) is so similar in colouring to my boy - we always thought he had some staffie in him somewhere, along with the mad collie and lab.
I'd rehome them all but my cats would probably move out!
I am sure Liphook has some potential responsible dog owners who would be able to offer a warm home in return for lots of love and fun?

yes, don't know what the problem is with the photo bucket pics , they usually just come up as the picture on this site :(
Today I had a day off work and took a dog called Bonzo out for the day to give him a good break from kennels , we had a lovely walk up Butser hill and then lunch at the Links ... just about my fave way to spend a day off!! . I love the Links as they are so dog friendly!! Nice pic on Bonzo's thread of him with the barman :)

Thank you all for your replies to my plea.
Believe it or not, we were turned down by the RSPCA as they 'don't rehome where other animals are in situ'.!!!!!!!
We went to Firhill Kennels, as very kindly suggested, and Dillon has been settling in for the past 3 weeks - feels like he's been here forever. He's such an amazing dog, and completely meant for us. Rescue Remedies were on our list, but the nearest dog that might have been happy with us was in Kent. We were heading there next.
Just goes to show, you CAN get everything you want locally!!
Cheers all,
Linda

Well done Linda, very pleased for you and Dillon. Can we have a photo? What breed is he?
We were turned down by rescue centres as well because I work three days a week and they didn't think it good enough that my husband would be going home at lunchtimes. 2 years on, and our privately re-homed dog doesn't even bother to go out at lunchtimes ....... especially if it's cold or wet (and I don't blame him)!
