Swans
- Angela (30th Jan 2006 - 12:07:04)

Does anyone know when the swans arrived in the park.
Two adults and 4 Cygnets.

Hi there

The swans arrived last Thursday. Apparently they were brought by the RSPCA. They seem to have become Liphooks latest tourist attraction, with near crowds around the pond on Sunday, and they love the attention and the bread that go with it.

Long may they stay :)

What a lovely idea!!! I'll have to go and visit them....do hope they stay safe from any 'nasties' lurking about.

Hi, Eneida -

You're been as elusive as me on this website! Nice to see you are still about.

I'm going to take a photo of the swans if they're about on Saturday afternoon and ask the editor to post it here. It would be be a nice addition.

Actually, Mr Editor, what about a photo gallery for the site, where we could add the odd photo from around the Parish from time to time. Perhaps a seasonal photo diary?

Hi Freddie!

I'm still alive and well and enjoying life in Liphook LOL!

I think a photo gallery of views around the area would be a splendid idea....and then perhaps at Christmas they could be turned into a Liphook Calendar ?

Hi, Eneida -

Long time, no message. Waiting for Ed. to give us a thumbs-up or down on the idea.

Liphook Calendar sounds good - do you ever buy the postcards at the Parish office.?They are really good.

I'd guess Ian Baker would be the man for photos. Once went to one of his talks at the Methodist Church. His work is fantastic and his knowledge of the countryside tremendous. Really enjoyed the evening.

I see we had a little touch of arson down at Liphook Plumbing! Nasty that.

How's the Book Club going? I picked up a copy of Le Carre's The Constant Gardener, as I passed through the airport, and grabbed it quick. Really pleased I did. A real "page-turner" as they say in the blurbs.

Any spare wheelie-bins? We never did find the owner!!

rgds to you.

Hi Freddie,

I thought Mark (the Ed) could organise a monthly competition for Liphook residents to send in seasonal photos and then the best 12 could be made into a Liphook Calendar. It would make a lovely Christmas present to send to relatives abroad. I'd buy at least 4!!

As far as I know the Liphook BC is still going strong. I belong to a new club now....we're reading The Labyrinth by Kate Mosse (not the supermodel lol!) and I really recommend it, much better than Dan Brown's but on the same theme.

Funny you should mention spare wheelie bins because...................

Hi, Eneida -

I had a mesage from the Ed. and he's asked me to send through the photos I took last weekend. I'll send them this coming weekend and he'll then decide how to start presenting contributions.

Recently finished reading Samuel Pepys - The Unequalled, by Claire Tomalin. Highly recommended if you want a long and fascinating read which weaves the history of London into the day to day lives of the people, Parliament, the King.

Clare Tomalin reveals the dark and light side sof Pepys and the world he lived in. Tremendous.

Sadly I think a fox, or a similar pest, got to one of the swans, as there are now only 3 signets :(
