PRIDE OF LIPHOOK
- Beth Marr (24th Jan 2012 - 09:18:20)

We all know what a brilliant place Liphook is to live in. It is full of wonderful people who go to amazing efforts to make this a better place to live for everyone. Most of us know at least one of these people, and whilst nothing is done to get plaudits, I feel that these people really deserve to be thanked by us as a village.

To start the New Year off with a lovely positive note I'd like to announce the Pride of Liphook Awards to be held later this year. There will be three categories; a Youth Award for under 21's, a Group Award and an Individual Award, which will be called the Frank Conroy award in memory of Frank who passed away last year.

We have a judging panel of 9 local people, and the awards ceremony is to be held at the Milennium Hall in the Spring. It is important to stress that this is a non-political event, and is very much to be a celebration of the great community spirit that we have here. What we are looking for now is nominations.

You might be bowled over by the efforts of the Liphook in Bloom team, or the dedication of our retained firefighters. You might know of a young person who has overcome tremendous difficulties or perhaps cared for a sick relative. You may just be thankful to one particular person who you feel has given more to our community than any other.

Either way, I'd appreciate any nominations to be considered by the judging panel, with short video montages to be made for the awards ceremony by BCL Technical for the finalists in each category. Please email me at a3sportsuk@yahoo.co.uk with your nomination and a daytime telephone number.

Please everyone have a think about who you might like to nominate and why. We have so much to be grateful for as a community.

Many thanks

Beth

Hi Beth

What a fantastic idea, I will certainly nominate a couple of people/groups.

Just a thought..... do you think it may be a good idea to incentivise people for nominating someone, maybe with a free draw for a bottle of wine or something?

I know people sometimes need a little push to put pen to paper!

Good luck

Katy

Just to let everyone know that nomination forms for the Pride of Liphook Awards are now available at A3 Sports. Judging for the awards is being held on 18th February, so please get your nominations for your favourite local hero in as soon as possible to ensure inclusion.

Many thanks to the judges and everyone else who has already offered their time for this event. It really should be a fantastic evening.

Thank you to everyone who's already returned nomination forms. Just to remind everyone, the deadline for entries is 17th February, so please get your thinking caps on about which of our local heroes you'd like to be nominated. It would be a great way to say thank you!

Just to remind everyone that nominations for the PRIDE OF LIPHOOK awards will be closing on Friday. We have 3 award categories, an individual award, a group award and a youth award for under 21s.

If you know of a local hero that you'd like to see included in the awards please either drop into A3 Sports or The Gables to pick up a form, download a form from this thread and drop it into me, or even just drop me a line at the shop.

Our judges are meeting on Saturday to decide the winners. We already have lots of nominations, but would still love more, particularly in the youth category.

This is a perfect way to celebrate the people who make Liphook such a unique place to live and work, please help us to thank them.

Thank you
