Question for dog walkers
- Sarah (17th Jan 2012 - 15:47:05)

I'm not going to start ranting about dog poo being left all over the pavements - I think there are plenty of people who have already ridden their high horses off into the sunset on that issue - so here's mine:

When you DO scoop your dog's poop - WHY do you then throw the plastic bag full of poo up into a tree, or into the bushes, or just leave it there by the side of the path?

I do not understand this behaviour. I really think it would be far better for you to just leave the poo where it is if you're going to do that.. for a start it looks absolutely awful, it is littering, it is leaving plastic which does not decompose quicky hanging about in the woods and when it does decompose it will only add chemicals such as BPAs into our environment.

Obviously not everyone does this, I really hope that some of the people who do will read this and think again, or at least know how completely vile it is!

I see it all the time at Iron Hill, where admitedly there is no dog poo bin, but I don't think that makes a huge difference as it's still seen at Radford Park and other places where there are bins..

Maybe someone can enlighten me as to why some people think its such a good idea to scoop it and then add more litter to the environment by adding a plastic bag into the equation??

I agree totally- having thought about this, I think possibly it is an owner who does not want to carry a bag of poo around on a walk, so perhaps then forgets where they left the bag? another person sees it on the path and tosses the bag away from the path or ties it to a bush. Not very nice! It would be better to not use the bags! I have seen a dog owner leave a full poo bag on their own drive for 2 days, but have not had the guts to ask the householder why? perhaps she believes in the poo fairy?

Totally agree with both posts.

Have said it before and will say it again. As a dog owner my self i have always picked up after my dog even in the woods and taken it home or put it in a bin.

If people shudder at the thought of picking up poop then dont get a dog. Simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad owners give dogs a bad name.
