LIPHOOK ON THE MAP

I've noticed that in the last few weeks Liphook is now regularly appearing on the local weather map on BBC1.
Does this mean our Council Tax will go up?

I vaguely recall that there used to be someone in Liphook who for years kept detailed weather records and shared them regularly with the Met Office. As a result, Liphook has one of the best micro-meteorological histories of anywhere in the UK. Does anyone know the details? Or is this just a local "urban myth"?

Liphook hit the press headlines in the ?1960s as it regularly was the coldest or warmest place in the UK. All sorts of reasons were put forward. ...Then the readings were found to be in error!
