get fit for free!! - claire (31st Dec 2011 - 17:10:29)
Looking to shed the tin or two of quality street you ate this Christmas ?? Forget the gym and pilates ...... walk a dog that is waiting in rescue kennels for its forever home!
Rescue Remedies welcomes responsible adults as volunteers to walk dogs which are kennelled locally. You can volunteer as much or as little time as you like. Our dogs crave human company and their walks are very precious to them.
If you would like to discuss volunteering please contact Karen

we have beautiful dogs looking for homes and also looking for foster families whilst awaiting their homes. Please take a look at our website.

Good suggestion Claire!
We thought it would be the perfect volunteering for our 15 year old to do for his Duke of Edinburgh award - something he would actually be interested in. What a shame you have to be 18 to volunteer. I guess its health and safety for both the dogs and volunteers although Greyhound rescue in Rake let us walk the dogs with our children (before we took in our own mad collie x several other breeds).
Was Jessie with you? Glad to see she found her forever home.

...... I think a 15 yr old would be most welcome accompanied by a willing adult :) .
Yes , Jessie was with me. We fostered her for 16 months and then her perfect home came up!! Wonderful for her but a huge empty space in my house now . I shall be walking at the kennels and I am sure my heart will know which dog I need to foster next!!
Some people who are too busy to own a dog do 'weekend fostering' , that way you have a walking companion for Saturday and Sunday but no ties during a busy working week.
Meeting our dogs should come with a health wearning ...... once met you are addicted :) !!
