Liphook Eyesore
- Uncle Ernie (6th Dec 2005 - 12:53:31)

I know, I know, I've whinged about this before, but have you seen the latest & truely appalling signage adorning the Anchor?
Dear God, what is going on in the heads of those running this pub!
Whilst the Christmas lights people have done a grand job, the in-bloomers, as always, doing their best against the elements and all the other shops & businesses getting involved, what do we get from the Anchor, arguably the centrepiece of our lovely village......... Grot on a huge scale!
Come on, the Anchor, get in the swing of things, or is that totally beyond your collective imagination.

Perhaps a bit harsh, Uncle Ernie, although I partly agree. The Anchor's lights and Christmas tree look very pretty. The snowmen? - Well I suppose the kid's like them.. and you can't see them in the dark. A pity then that the plastic signs by the roundabout look horrendous and totally spoil all the efforts of Liphook in Bloom and The Anchor itself. Why? !! They look so dreadful that I'm sure they can't drag in that many customers. Doesn't the Anchor care that it is spoiling the whole look of our village square? Just because these are plastic signs and therefore 'temporary' I assume no planning is needed. If they are 'temporary' perhaps there should be a time limit!
