Bus stop in The Avenue - TOOTS (27th Nov 2005 - 16:28:23)
Is anyone else getting completely fed up with the cretins who are always vandalising the bus stop in The Avenue? If I have to walk my children around the broken glass once more I will scream. With the winter coming on it is protection for those waiting for the bus and it is only a matter of time before someone seriously injures themselves. Two more glass panes have been shattered again today - probably in broad daylight! Please someone must know who is responsible? It may only be a small crime in the scheme of things, but why do we let these 'people' get away with it?

Toots if you live nearby, have you considered talking with others in the area and filming them? If it is predictably broken then surely someone must have a camera they can pass around in shifts to get some footage of the perpetrators that can be delivered to the police?
Just a thought - community empowerment and all that.

I must admit that idea had crossed my mind! Short of hiding in the school field or in a car opposite there aren't many vantage points for covert video surveilance in that area sadly!

You could phone Whitehill Police Station.
They have a video surveillance van and also a technical unit who can rig up surveillance cameras for this kind of thing.
Maybe we should have a series of webcams around the village? We had a discussion here about such things a while back.

I think a network of public cameras across the village that anyone can watch at any time is a very interesting idea.

I agree with Alex it would be a very good idea and I think it would be extremely beneficial in helping with all kinds of issues.

Steve - we agree?? :) Wow! Its an interesting idea just like the local loyalty card they created for Haslemere. But would the council give us the funding?
