Parish Council By-Election: Candidate Eddie Trotter
- Edward Trotter (4th Dec 2011 - 14:12:08)

I have lived in Liphook since 1989 at Bohunt Manor, where I looked after the estate for my aunt, Lady Holman. Just before my aunt died she told me she wished that the estate would be preserved for the enjoyment of the people of Liphook. I promised to do all in my power to achieve this aim.

I have been a frequent visitor of the Parish Council monthly meetings in the last few years. Recently, I became more and more concerned about the motivation and intentions of a number of councillors, not supporting the fight against the proposed 600 capacity Gospel Hall development and other developments in Liphook.

I therefore stood for election in May and missed out by two places. I believe that the current Parish Council should have been allowed to co-opt me onto the Council, now that there are two vacancies, which would have avoided the cost of an election. However ten parishioners asked for an election so I am determined to stand again.

Bohunt Manor

My aunt would have considered the proposals for a health centre, allotments and cricket and football pitches to fulfil her wishes. However she would have been strongly opposed to a Gospel Hall, or to the prospect of a possible housing estate. If elected I shall fight to fulfil her wishes.

Other issues

I am very keen to ensure that other pressing issues are dealt with properly in Liphook. These include better public transport, improvements to the infrastructure, such as sewerage, and the provision of facilities for sports and recreation generally. If elected I shall also do my best to deal with these matters.

Therefore, my aim as a Parish Councillor is to fight for a better place for us all to live in and to oppose the bad planning applications that are clearly not in the interest of the local people or community.

Please vote for EDDIE TROTTER on Thursday 8 December!
For BRAMSHOTT & LIPHOOK PARISH COUNCIL

An election may cost, but it reflects the will of the people better than co-opting a councillor which would be a reflection of the will of a far smaller group of people. It may only take 10 people to trigger an election, but more than this will vote. The way to avoid extra elections is to stop forcing people to resign over what often seems to be minor squabbles. I would like to see the whole council work for the good of the area and leave their petty rivalries behind them.

Good Luck Eddie, men of your calibre are thin on the ground. I amsure your experience and tenacity will be an asset to Liphook.
