Parish Council By-Election: Candidate Philip Jordan
- Philip Jordan (27th Nov 2011 - 18:44:25)

Thanks to the help from many supporters I hope to have reached the majority of our community with a statement of my reasons for standing for election on 8th December.
As postal voters have or will soon be recieving their voting papers I thought it wise to also publish it below, today.

I am experting its contnet to be pulished, with those from other candidtes, in the local papers next week.

-------------

Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council By-election

Candidate: - Philip Jordan

On 8th December there is a by-election; this should not have been necessary, particularly given the cost involved. Unfortunately two councillors elected only in May have stood down.

I am standing in the belief that I can help the work started by the new Council. I wish to contribute to the development of an effective Council and where possible of services for our community in such areas as traffic control, litter management, recreation facilities and protecting our countryside.

What is my experience and what can I offer?
-I have lived in Liphook for 28 years and know the parish well. I am a retired Chartered Accountant having worked for 26 years with ICI/Astra Zeneca based at Fernhurst and abroad.
-My three children attended the local schools.
-I was a founding trustee of Bohunt School Education Trust in the 80’s
-I have been a member of LiDBA since the 80’s and a past chairman.
-I am a member of the “Liphook in Bloom” team; its current chairman.
-I am on the Bramshott & Liphook Preservation Society Committee.

As a councillor in the last council my achievements included
- Chairing the Parish Survey Working Party and publishing the survey.
- Assisting the setting up of the “Parish Plan” Group.
- Successfully helping secure funding for the Heritage
Centre
- Helping make the Play Park project a reality and securing
it’s funding.
- I served on Planning, Millennium Hall, Recreation Ground,
Highways and Finance & Policy Committees. I
represented the Council on Planning enquiries.

- However, I failed to prevent the nonsense and
manipulation which blighted the operation of the Council in
2009/10. I did not stand in May as a consequence of this.

I believe the new Council has a good opportunity to put the past behind it and establish an effective Council, one that supports the voluntary groups in the village and addresses itself to the needs of the community. I wish to contribute to this transition and delivery.

Please help me achieve this by voting for me on the 8th December or in your postal vote.

We do hope you are successful Phil. You have already proven that you work hard for the Liphook community with your involvement in Liphook in Bloom and LIDBA. Also you’re past record as a councillor. We do need people with of your calibre on the council.
Best of Luck

It is good to see you are in touch with the electorate it is not too late for the others to do that too!

Good luck and best wishes Phil.
Hopefully a quiet voice of reason will be heard to quell all the 'conspiracy' theories that are doing the rounds. Having the accounts approved must have been a setback.
As for the other candidates do they not realise that if I could get more votes than the two of them combined at the last election that perhaps it might filter through their combined intellect that perhaps the local electorate had finally seen them for what they were and didn't vote for them.
I can only hope that sense will prevail again!
Mr Trotter I wish you and Phil the best of luck and hope that commensense will again prevail..

Just to remind you it was Phil Jordon and Mr Trotter that supported the community and worked tirelessly to get the planning application for the Gospel Hall on Bohunt Manor estate rejected which is exactly the sort of community minded people we need on the Parish Council but you must go and vote or they may not get in.

They're number 1 and number 4 on the ballot paper or another way to remember is they're the top one and the bottom one!
