shop to let in the square
- Fran Derry (27th Nov 2011 - 12:52:22)
Noticed that the acupunturist at no 32 in the square is leaving soon leaving yet another shop empty to go with the sad-looking ex Nationwide building.
Hope someone is interested soon to stop the square looking like Station Road does most of the time.

Try location a problem, i.e. no parking, not enough foot-fall locally, and costly business rates on premises.
Sadly the future of any village shops as a profitable concern, is in doubt dont you think?

The problem is too much taxation on Businesses, some of the hardest trading conditions since the 1930's.I don't wish to put people off from running their own business, because entrepreneurs keep this country running. but if people don't start spending soon, then all the shops will close !apart from sainsbury and Tesco's and the like.
I honestly believe that the government needs to stop taxing people so mucheg.business rates, V.A.T., council tax, income tax and national insurance, even companies have to pay seperately for their rubbish to be emptied and the Bank's are also sqeezing peoples money by overcharging customers and businesses for banking and fee's. It would be great if no businesses had to pay these for the first three years of trading. The other mine field is planning and advertising consent applications by business.
Some companies invest thousands of pounds to advertise their business, ownly to have refusals for silly reasons that cost companies even more and the majority of locals think it is crazy!but it goes on all the time.I would like to wish with all my best wishes for any new venture to succeed in liphook, as its looking tired and dated.

You cannot lay all the blame at the taxation system, perhaps the Bankers have to take some of the blame for creating the mess we are in, think of the expensive bailouts we have had to make?
It is because the Banks were foolish in their lending before that they have now drawn in their horns, to avoid getting into the same situation. We cannot spend money if we are not employed to earn it!
Also internet shopping now accounts for 6 per cent of our GDP it earns more for us than agriculture.

Have been to the new shop on midhurst rd, Brand Xchange.
Impressed with their clothing range, for women and men.
All types of quality products for day and night wear.
Some designer names as well at resonable prices.
Good luck!
