Climate change- Global warming
- olivia spencer (23rd Nov 2011 - 15:10:07)

Hi!
We are currently doing a Global Perspectives course for our GCSEs and our topic is Climate change. We would really appreciate some of your opinions regarding temperature rise.
Are you worried about the future if global warming continues?
Do you belive in global warming?
Do you recycle and do your part to reduce your carbon footprint?
Thankyou for your opinions and thoughts, we really appreciate it.

Climate change/global warming is a strange one ... I can remember (back in the late 60s and 70s) some really cold winters and equally really hot summers - like '76. We seem to be getting more 'mild' summers - not especially hot and quite wet - and the last couple of winters have been really cold. But look at this autumn - really mild. So there doesn't seem to be a pattern - perhaps more moderate temperatures overall. Today was the first time that I have put the heating on during the day!
Recycling: yes we do our bit to divide our rubbish and recycle what we can. I think the responsibility also lies with the manufacturers to make sure that their products are sold in recyclable materials. Some recycling centres are not equipped to recycle everything and I understand that it can cost more in terms of 'carbon footprint' to transport materials to centres to be recycled.
Hope this helps your project.

Bohunt students.. Please create a questionaire which people can complete and email back to you.

Hi Olivia

I do believe we are in a phase of global warming. Difficult to know if global warming is due to our impact or if it is natural phenomenon. I do think that if the ice caps continue to melt we will all be in deep water (and poo - but don't put that in yr homework!)

|With regard to reducing my carbon footprint outwardly I am quite good , i have a fuel efficient car, i recycle what I can, we have changed to sustainable energy for our heating , i join any anti- over packaging campaign and try to by locally sourced products when possible .......however , I use budget airline travel frequently for non essential travel (ie fun!) so my guess that cancels out all my good citizen efforts.
