LOST: much loved army teddy
- Kelly (9th Nov 2011 - 19:35:34)

Whilst crossing the Headley Road, near the Co-op on Wednesday night at around 6pm, my 6 year old son dropped his much loved army teddy... We waited on the pavement for a gap in the traffic to go & pick it up, but to my horror, a car drove over it, the teddy got stuck underneath and disappeared up the road. (Sounds quite funny now, but wasn't at the time... Very upset son!)

It's a 'Help for heroes' teddy, wearing an army desert shirt.
If anybody should find it (in whatever state) could they please let me know.

Many thanks Kelly

Hi there

Not silly at all, as the policeman handed it into A3 sports where a friend spotted it in the window and I went and got the teddy this morning.

Thanks all round, a happy boy once more!

My children will be so pleased when I tell them the Teddy found his way home! We drove past it in the road last night, and they were very worried about him and who he might belong to!

Do we know who the 'Hero' policeman is? He should be named!!!

Re: LOST: much loved army teddy
- Jaybee (14th Nov 2011 - 18:32:21)

I propose that the policeman concerned should be awarded the "Queens Medal For Distinction Service"

This thread would provide a ideal story line for a childrens video.

Come on. You local film makers give it a try I am willing to help.;

From, past emails:-I know you are out there

- Jane G (14th Nov 2011 - 20:36:13)

I can't help with a video but I have written a poem about teddy'ss escapade....

John the teddy was oh so brave
And to a young boy such pleasure he gave
But nobody knew on a trip to the shop
That teddy would need to be saved by a cop

John was a brave bear, medals on chest
Who cuddled and loved his owner the best
A trip to the Co-op one cold Autumn night
And teddy gave all of Liphook a fright

John fell to the road in his brown desert shirt
And rolled and rolled around in the dirt
He waited and waited as cars whizzed on by
And John saw his owner beginning to cry

The traffic was heavy, the cars were too fast
And John's little owner feared for the worst
Then all of a sudden the bear disappeared
Picked up by a car, the worst he had feared

The car drove away with John underneath
Tossed and turned like an Autumnal leaf
And nobody knew where teddy had gone
Or if he would be away for long

But there was a website that saved the day
It was known by the name of Liphook UK
The owner did post to please look around
As there was a teddy that had to be found

So reports came in from everywhere
To say that John had been spotted in The Square
Near to the garage and then Lloyds Bank
And then locals seemed to draw quite a blank

John's owner was feeling so very upset
No teddy to hug or cuddles to get
A policeman was spotted carrying a bear
But where did he take him, where oh where?

A picture was posted of a similar bear
But shockingly he had no underwear!
But people of Liphook still looked for John
And wondered where on earth he had gone

But A3 Sports did save the day
By putting the teddy on display
The bear had been saved by a friendly cop
Who had decided to give him in to the shop

An arm in a sling and a bandaged head
But John could again be taken to bed
And never again would he venture away
He'd save his travels for another day!

Brilliant Jane G!!

Looks like the Editor is having fun dressing up teddy as well - maybe a trip to Build a Bear is in order for Christmas?

Picture was supplied by John's guardian.

Dear Jane G

What a brilliant poem! I will print this out to be kept with John.

This website is fantastic, my thanks go to everyone who was concerned for John's well being and for all the support we have had since finding him.

Should anyone want to take John's story further, the editor has my email for contact!!

Many thanks to you all. Kelly

Kelly..glad you liked the poem. I was in a similar situation with my daughter (now 15) once when she left her beloved 'bunny' in a trolley outside Sainsburys.

Luckily the bunny was still there when we returned, and is still part of the household!

Jane,

My Mum left my SISTER in her pram outside Liptons grocers(now the chemist I think) and luckily SHE was still there when my Mum went back - and is still part of our family!

No need to report to childline or social services - my sister is in her 40's.

Have followed story of John's fate with bated breath - hurrah for a happy ending. Reminds me of when I was little and on the way back from a beach holiday in Normandy to the ferry port - suddenly realised my teddy was missing. My father put in a Formula 1 performance in his Morris Minor and we arrived back at the beach just in time to snatch teddy from the advancing waves - phew! Long live heroic tales of bears.

I know, isn't it great! I am thinking of writing up the epic tale of lost teddy John!
