Giraffe
- Irene & Russ (1st Nov 2011 - 16:59:53)

Giraffe needs a new home

For those of you that saw the carnival you would have seen him on the front of the Noah’s ark float. We do not know who made him but we came across him back in September outside a charity shop in Bromyard near Worcester, so he is well travelled.

So we thought he was just right for our float and by buying him we were helping a charity. With this in mind we decided that it would be a shame to put him on the bonfire on Nov 5th when maybe he could go on making money for different charities. Therefore we have decided to put him up for auction on this site and the money will go to the carnival funds. Dead line is 9am Monday 7th November.

He is a little battered as he only has one ear but otherwise in good condition and he is cheap to keep. Maybe we should but a log book on him and see where he ends up.
So lets have your bids.

How big is he and do you think he or she could withstand living full time outdoors in this climate without perishing?

Re: Giraffe

Hi Helen

The giraffe is about 5’ from toe to head and we think it is made of very thick papier-mâché and painted in gloss paint. So no we do not think it would last long outside.

O dear It looks like Graham the giraffe is going to have to go on the bonfire.

Can you donate it to the playgroup or the infants school? I am sure a toddlers group would love it?

Oh poor old Graham...that's so sad!!

Can't one of the local shops or pubs 'adopt' him...it would make a good talking point and he could collect money for a local charity perhaps??

Can't let Liphook's last remaining Giraffe end up as scratchings! Save the Liphook One!!! May seem like a tall order but i bid £20.

Hi Kim
Graham the giraffe was so pleased he was not going to be turned into steaks that he grew a new ear and horn. He knew the good people of Liphook would not let him down.

Hi Kim
Well it looks as if you have got yourself a giraffe for the princely price of £20 unless of course someone comes up with a better offer tonight.

Thank you Kim, Graham is all yours and he is looking forward to going to his new home. We will give the £20 to the carnival fund and because he has given us a lot of fun particularly when Russ carried him down Bromyard high street under his arm and also because he helped us have a very successful night in the carnival we are going to match your £20 with £20 from us.
Please give us a ring 723823 and we can arrange for you to pick him up or we can deliver.
Irene & Russ
