Councillor vacancy
- Editor (14th Oct 2011 - 12:08:13)

Following the resignation of Sangita Judge, there is a vacancy for a councillor on Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council.

BRAMSHOTT & LIPHOOK
PARISH COUNCIL NOTICE

We are having a bielection in December but if there is not to be a co-option we need another dozen signatures. The battle for openness is not over yet and Counsellor Jerrard has left a trail of devastation and chaos wherever he has been a counsellor.

You rearly do talk a load of cods wallop. Why you bother beats me!

Re: Councillor vacancy
- Dawn Hoskins (14th Oct 2011 - 16:35:42)

There was a battle for openness, we won it and all meetings that take place are absolutely open and frank.

I look forward to seeing you at one of the council meetings as we have been having them since May and I have not noticed you yet.

I feel you would be able to make fair comment if you actually attended, but if you are not attending how are you able to make any sort of informed decisions as to what is happeneng? Perhaps you are relying on someone elses opinion - I think I have asked you about this before - about where you are getting your information from?

I am sorry you think that we are not being open and encourage you to attend and actually engage with us - then you will know - straight from the horses mouth.

I would like to thank all the members of the public who are now starting to attend regularly. It is very good to see new faces beginning to appear.

I feel I must come to the new councillor's aid here- Dr Judge was a popular person yes, but she attended one full councill meeting in May and no meeting since, she has not done any work on behalf of the parish Council, also she did not attend regularly even before Mr Jerrard apperared on the scene. You can check but she was a councillor before May, and put in an appearance maybe twice? is that a good record?.

Dear Phlem,
Without decent honest people, like Cllr Gerrard, volunteering to sit unpaid and do the proper work of Parish Councillors, we would still be stuck with the old regime. The new Council are beginning to expose the corruption and incompetence of some ex councillors of the previous administration and you don’t appear to like it. Dawn Hoskins is right, if you are going to verbalise your dislike of Cllr Gerard you ought to get your “facts” right. He has not “left a trail of devastation and chaos wherever he has been a counsellor” at all. His communication skills, as a retired solicitor are much appreciated by people who attend meetings in Liphook and Greatham. Perhaps Phlem you ought to attend meetings then you could give a reasoned opinion, based on facts rather than the nonsense you have the temerity to write on this site.

Perhaps phelim could fill the vacancy then maybe he would stop complaining!!

I think some of the information that has been passed to Phelim has been circulated by ex-councillors, who have a vested interest in rubbishing those who try and expose the dodgy things that used to go on at the Parish Council. I expect they will put themselves forward again for the vacancies.

Can I ask, as I don't understand how these things work, will both the vacant positions be voted for in the by-election in December? Confused about Phelim's post about the Dr Judge vacancy?

Many thanks

There will be a by-election in December for the two vacant Parish Council seats following the resignations of Jeremy Austin Olsen and Dr Sangita Judge.

Dear Jane

The council can co-op members which costs nothing. This is done usually by chosing the highest votes received from the last election.

If a certain number of people lodge their preference for a full by election at EHDC then an election must take place instead of a co-option. This will cost approx £6,000 but probably more depending on the number of postal votes.

The dates are set by EHDC.

There was a byelection called to fill the seat left by the resignation of Mr Austin-Olsen, but a couple of days later Dr Judge also resigned. This meant that EHDC recalled the date and will wait to see if another 20 people call for a full byelection to fill Dr Judge's seat.

At least it will not cost anymore money if two are elected at once as the main costs are for the staff etc.

My concern is that Cllr James is moving house out of the area and we will shortly be in this position once again. However, must agree with Cllr Easton, none of these councillors attend any committee meetings so it is best to get some people in who will be active and perhaps lighten the load from those of us who are having to step up to do their portion of the work.

In hindsight it would have been better if these councillors had not stood for election - thereby committing themselves to a 4 year term - when they probably already knew that they would not be able to see it through. It will result in a considerable expense being taken from our little pot of money.
