The Herald has got its facts wrong AGAIN!
- jenny (8th Oct 2011 - 11:24:04)

Firstly, in this week's Herald under "Vacany for parish councillor" (hang on - is it not VacanCy?) it quotes Jeremy Austin-Olsen as being vice-chairman of Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council. Mr Austin-Olsen was not vice-chairman when he tendered his resignation; nor did he sit on ANY committees.

Secondly, in the piece about the Heritage Centre, Dr. John Tough was quoted as attending, as being "from the centre management committee" - he is not on the Centre Management Committee, he only runs the Cinema Club.

Please get your facts right Herald, you are showing dis-respect to the new councillors yet again!.

I agree Jenny also the piece about the library service could be wrong, it said councillors have to decide a cut in hours as far as I know it is not their decision, also when any quote on anything is needed she asks ex-councillor Tough? He has as far as I know, no decision making authority in matters concerning Liphook. It is just his opinion. We know that transport consultants are paid by developers to make their reports as favourable as possible, we are not stupid.

Steady on Jenny, they do make our blood boil.
Few people know what has really been going on among the previous PC administration but if one were to believe what was reported by Gabrielle Pikie in the Liphook Herald then one would have been totally and absolutely mis-informed.
This snooze paper has a lot of questions to answer. Accuracy and objectivity ought to be the primary objectives of any media. Sadly the Herald Group, in most circulation areas gets it wrong time and time again.

Well done Helen and Jock. Jock, I love the reference to Gabrielle Pikie!
What is so sad is that if you complain to The Herald, they will just ignore everything, it seems mis "reportage" sells newspapers, but it doesn't do any favours to the poor s*ds who are trying to make things work!!

It is interesting that all of the people associated, past and present, are patrons of one particular hostelry just outside the village conurbation, on the south side. Could it be that a cabal were meeting there and deciding policy and action independently of the rest of councill ?

Thank you D. Advocate for your comments. However, what on earth have your comments to do with the Herald getting their facts wrong --- or the price of fish? (Oh by the way, Council is spelled with one L - or hell if you prefer!)

Whether you are a fan of Gabrielle Pike or not about her reporting skills, that is no excuse for acting like a bunch of bullies and calling her names. How would you feel if you were on the receiving end? Stop it now and grow up!

Re: The Herald has got its facts wrong AGAIN!
- liz (11th Oct 2011 - 09:37:01)

Ms Pike herself hasn't in the past appeared too concerned about the accuracy of her 'reporting'. The biter bit I would suggest.

I cannot see any name calling, perhaps misspelling of names but we get used to that in the herald, along with the epithets such as "disgraced councillor Evans" or not even having the courtesy to put Mr in front of a persons name she does not like. I believe that if one complains about inaccuracies one is threatened with legal action for daring to complain.

Time to stop buying the Herald then if they're that nasty!

Dear Joanna Elliott

I think you will find that many of us have been on the receiving end for some time!

I suspect the herald would report that mutton was lamb.

Mutton WAS lamb.

Re: The Herald has got its facts wrong AGAIN!
- liz (12th Oct 2011 - 14:55:43)

That would be the Herald's excuse no doubt!
